Your dog is a family member, and deserves the best! Hi, I’m Joey and I’d be happy to take your furry friend for a Wag! Walk today, or any day. I was raised with a large dog as a kid and had two medium size dogs in my teens. I worked in the pet industry for almost 5 years, serving independent mom & pop pet stores. One day I want to have an Amstaff and a Jack Russell in my family!

“A walk a day keeps the vets away!”
Hey there! I’m a bilingual dog walker, pet sitter and pet care taker. At 16 years old, I relinquished sports to work at a vets office, and ever since there was no way back. Richmond is a hot spot for dog lovers/friendly people and allows for adventurous short or long walks. Favorite things about walking dogs besides the walk, is meeting your pups’ quirks, catch and plays. Check out the rest of my profile to see how I can help! Hablo espanol!

“Care from a life long dog owner”
Hi there! My name is Eddie, and I can’t wait to meet your pup. I’ve been on wag! since 2018 and I’ve fallen in love with all the dogs I’ve been able to care for. My dog, Kota, and I recently moved to RVA with two other friends. We have a spacious back yard that’s fully fenced in and Kota is the friendliest girl I’ve ever met. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life so caring for them is second nature. The pics in my gallery are of my family’s current dogs but only the small tan pup lives here!

Hello, I’m Katy! I live in Richmond City close to VCU campus. I love dogs and look forward to caring for your pet whether you’re working, vacationing or at home needing an extra hand. I have 3 dogs, Tinkerbell a 4 yr old Pomeranian , Edward 1 yr old dachshund and Georgia a (now) 9 wk old Labrador . I love taking dogs on sensory fulfilling walks, exploring new areas of the city, new sounds, textures , smells etc. I believe these walks are as therapeutic for me as they are for the dogs. I love all breeds of dogs with absolutely no breed predjudices . In the near future , I would like to go to school to become a dog trainer , more specifically to train therapy dogs for veterans and autistic persons .

“Experienced dog walker ready to love on your pet!”
Hi! I am Elizabeth and I am a freelance violinist and violin teacher! I grew up in Upstate NY on a farm with lots of animals. My passion was dogs and I got my first border collie when I was 13. As I grew older I became interested in breeding and training border collies and had several litters of puppies before I left for college. In May of 2020, my boyfriend and I adopted our pup Butter. He is the best boy ever and has us head over heels for him!

Etna Mills is an unincorporated community that thrives on the edge of the Richmond muttropolitan area. Where neighboring towns offer big city attractions, Etna Mills is still a taste of the country in Virginia. Dogs love the country: fresh air, squirrels and birds to chase, and true amenities. You’ll have to go to neighboring King William for veterinary care, but that’s still less than 12 miles by car. Follow Etna Mills Road west, and you’ll come to Gravatts Millpond, where a turnout offers a great view of the water feature.
Using Etna Mills as your base, take a short trip over Hanover for lunch or dinner at the Houndstooth Cafe. True to its name, this little cafe welcomes dogs to its outdoor tables and chairs. Your pup can drink from a provided water bowl while you peruse a menu stocked with classics like collard greens and homemade lemonade.
If your pup prefers modern twists on classic meals, try The Hangover Cafe instead. The tongue in cheek name belies the treats that you can get there--classics like burgers are served side by side with flounder, reubens, and fried green tomatoes. Then head back to Etna Mills to enjoy all the charms that only a small town can offer to humans and dogs alike.
If your pup needs to let loose, head 10 miles west of Etna Mills to East Ashland and pay a visit to Taylor Dog Park. Your four legged pal can check his leash at the gate, then romp and play with new friends. Bring a ball for a game of fetch or just let him wander around on his own. He can even test his athletic abilities on the agility equipment. Water stations are available, so make sure he stops for a water break every once in awhile. For a leashed walk, hop over to Taylor Park and make your way around the walking trails.
If you’re just passing through the Etna Mills area, make a reservation at one of the nearby pet friendly hotels located in the Town Center of Ashland, just a short 13 mile drive to the west. Your pooch can comfortably drift off to dreamland in one of the rooms at Motel 6 Ashland. Pets of all sizes are welcome for no additional fee. Days Inn Ashland is another option. For a small fee, two pups up to 20 pounds can stay the night. Ashland Inn and Suites also opens their doors to furry guests. Two pets up to 40 pounds can rest their heads at this hotel for an additional fee.
Next time your furry BFF is begging for a walk, head over to the Poor Farm Park in West Ashland. Located about 17 miles west of Etna Mills, this park has plenty of room for walking. Guide your leashed pup around the multipurpose fields, or venture off into the woods and down the nature trails. You can also stop by DeJarnette Park for a little doggy cardio. This park provides eight acres of natural space for exploring and wandering. Listen to the chirping birds as your canine companion searches for the perfect stick. He’ll love making his way through the forested trails.
Stony Run Trail is nestled in the Washington Highway and Ashcake Road area of Ashland. Just 15 miles west of Etna Mills, this trail is a puptastic spot for an afternoon stroll with your furry friend. Clip on her leash and follow the trail through the beautiful scenery. Your pup can commune with nature while getting her daily dose of doggy cardio. Carter Park is also in the area. It spreads over 13 acres and has even more trails for your pup to discover. Gravel paths wind through the woods and provide an ideal setting for spending some time with your favorite walking buddy.
The Pole Green Dog Park is just 15 miles south of Etna Mills in Mechanicsville, and worth the trip! Located in the Dogwood Knoll and Newman neighborhood, this off leash area is just waiting for your pooch. Head on over so your pal can scamper around with new four legged fiends, or try out the agility equipment. Waste stations, water fountains, and benches all make this park pretty pawsome. If your pup is in the mood for a leashed walk, pay a visit to Pole Green Park and take some laps around the walking trail. When it’s time to go home, your dog will be ready for a nap!
