The Hanover Wayside Park is more than just a place to walk your dog. There are a series of trails and even a playground, but the star of the show here is the Veterans Memorial. Here, you will find a display of all the Veterans from the Civil War to World War II. It is an inspiring place to come and walk your dog. This is an on-leash park, but you will find water fountains along the trails. Please remember to clean up after your pet so that others can enjoy the beauty of the park as well. Pole Green Road

The neighboorhood of Pole Green is the proud owner of the second dog park in the county. Pole Green Dog Park is a much-needed addition to the area. The six-foot fences and double gate make sure that your dog can play safely off-leash. You can work with your dog on the agility equipment. The two watering stations are located at each end of the park. Doggie waste bags are provided all over the park at marked spots. You can use the timeout pen if your dog is misbehaving. You are sure to have a great time here if you are looking for something special for your dog.

Creighton's Commons

If you and your hound are hungry, head to Riverbound Cafe, a delicious and dog-friendly place to eat. You must try the fajitas! While you are here, you can grab a drink at the bar or enjoy an iced tea. They have four dog-friendly tables where you will be greeted with bowls of water for your pup. Remember while you are here, your dog must stay on his leash and be polite to others that are eating. The Rosemary Chicken is a local favorite. There are so many amazing dishes that you will want to try them all. Visit on any Sunday to take advantage of the brunch menu.

Old Mechanicsville

Right next to the iconic windmill, you will find Carter's Pigpen Bar-b-Que. This is the place to come for some mouthwatering BBQ. This is one of the oldest, and most iconic, restaurants in town. You must try it while you're here! The sides are made fresh daily. The BBQ sauce at Carter's Pigpen is authentic and unique to the restaurant. Anyone in town will tell you that you can bring your dog, but you will have to sit outside at one of the four dog-friendly tables. Make sure that you have a leash with you, and bring your appetite, too!
