Introduction
Are you an anime fan? Have you seen Bleach yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Bleach is one of the most popular anime series based on the manga of the same name created by Tite Kubo. The series follows the many adventures of an orange-haired student Kurosaki Ichigo who has been given the powers of Shinigami (soul reaper), by another Shinigami – Kuchiki Rukia. He spends his time defending the human race, reaping souls, crossing into other worlds, and overall becoming the coolest guy in the universe. So, why shouldn’t your pup bear the name of some of Bleach characters? Doesn’t get cooler than that!
Bleach Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
If you think you have seen a seriously tough and cool dog before, you have not seen Sajin Komamura yet. Sajin is basically the dog-wolf boss that can kick anyone’s bum with little to no effort at all. An interesting fact about him is that he used to be quite self-conscious about his looks, something a lot of us can relate to today, and he used a helmet and armor to hide his body from everyone. However, as time went by, Komamura’s confidence grew and he was able to shed his masks and show his face to the world. Actually, there was no reason for him to feel self-conscious as he is quite a dashing wolf-dog, the tallest one of all the captains, with light brown coat and impeccable sense of style.
Even though he looks tough and dangerous, Komamura is a sweetheart deep down. He is loyal and fair, with a strong sense for morals. When one of his closest friends, Kaname Tosen, commits treason, Sajin goes after him as he realizes that his friend’s actions are not right. He is also quite serious, having been through a lot, but he is never cruel. He is especially fond of mixed breed dogs, and even adopts a puppy whom he names Goro. One more interesting fact about him is that he enjoys dog shows!
Komamura is also a very powerful captain with many special skills. He is exceptionally proficient in hand-to-hand combat, as his super strength allows him to strike his enemies with almost deadly blows. Apart from that, he is a skilled swordsman, and very good at Shunpo, one of the basic movement techniques Shinigami use which allows them to move at incredible speeds. Captain Sajin also has a lot, and we mean, a LOT of spiritual energy which allows him to eradicate whole areas if needed. He uses his immense spiritual power to hide himself from enemies, which if often needed due to his great size and unique look. He is also able to blast his enemies without touching them, using only the strength of his spirit.
Moreover, Komamura has super senses and incredible stamina. He is able to fight even when he is severely injured, and able to dodge even the fastest of attacks because of his fast reflexes. Of course, Sajin can communicate with animals, especially dogs. Komamura’s Zanpakuto is called Tenken, meaning Heavenly Punishment, and in his Bankai form it turns into a giant, over a hundred meters tall, which fights by copying Komamura’s movements and afflicts an incredible amount of damage.
Bleach Inspired Dog Name Considerations
When it comes to committing to a name for your new pup, it is often considered good practice to figure out their personality and then name them. However, if you are a proud owner of an energetic breed such as a Border Collie, Airedale Terrier, or an adorable Dalmatian, naming them Bankai can be a solid choice. Bankai is the final form of a Shinigami’s Zanpakutou, and it means “full release”, perfect for a doggo with loads of energy.
For a cute little howler whose voice is one of the angels, perhaps an Alaskan Malamute, Coonhound, or an American Eskimo Dog, a name such as Shiro, after Shiro Sagisu who composed music for Bleach can be perfect! If your doggo is a singing lady, the name Yui, after a Japanese singer and actress who sang several songs on the Bleach soundtrack, could suit them perfectly! If your pup is of a loyal kind, maybe a German Shepherd, a Doberman Pinscher, or an Akita, a name Sui Feng, a loyal leader of Squad 2, might be the way to go!
Whichever route you choose, whether to name by personality or by your pupper’s looks, Bleach is filled with characters who represent many positive traits, so why not brush up on your anime knowledge, and re-watch Bleach from episode one again?
