Brooklyn Nine-Nine Dog Names in Pop Culture
In the series, she is notably played by more than two actor dogs, as spotted by eagle-eyed fans. You will notice that through the series' different seasons, the Corgi playing the intrepid Cheddar has a different coloring and look. This amazing discovery is amusing and shows us how much fans love the series. However, no one is complaining as each dog is a cute and fluffy puppy in their own right. While it seems like the series creators don't care much for series continuity, Cheddar is seriously adorable no matter what iteration of her character it is. She is always written as an intelligent dog who isn't afraid to go out and adventure on her own. Once in a while, she also helps out Raymond Holt's schemes and plans, and thanks to her amazing training, gets to do a lot of things that could rival The Nine-Nines somewhat incompetent staff. We look forward to seeing how the Captain will be using her excellent skills in claiming the championship belt/plaque/whatever the crew comes up with as a prize for the next Halloween Heist!
Holt's naming conventions can be quite funny (remember his vintage car, Gertie? Yup), but we are loving the name he chose for his regal and furry friend. Knowing the Captain's personality, we were expecting something a little more reserved, cultured, or vintage. However, Cheddar's name and disposition gives a new facet to Holt's already complex personality arch, which is another reason why he is one of the most popular characters in the whole show. It's the perfect name for a puppy as sharp and classic as an intelligent Corgi can be.
