Introduction
Ever since her debut as "The Cat" in Batman #1 (1940), Selina Kyle has been the coolest cat in all of Gotham City. Despite being on the opposite side of the law as him, Catwoman has developed an...interesting relationship with Gotham City's Caped Crusader over the years; the two have been entangled in a seemingly endless cat and mouse (or should we say cat and bat) chase for as long as anyone can remember. As of this writing, Catwoman and Batman nearly tied the knot, almost officially becoming married during the Summer of 2018. If you're a fan of heroic rogue characters or Batman in general, then you should consider naming your dog after a Catwoman character.
Catwoman Inspired Dogs In Pop Culture
Personality wise, Ace has the precise demeanor you'd expect a dog that lives with the Bat of Gotham to have; Ace almost never allows himself to act in an over-excited manner and is always poised and composed. The Bathound is also very cunning and calculating, more byproducts of living with the World's Greatest Detective, causing him to think in ways that simply don't occur to other dogs. Batman trusts Ace so much that he's employed him as a de facto guardian of Alfred and the Batcave when he's away. All of Batman's young sidekicks have also bonded with the Bathound over the years, meaning that Ace has ties with the Teen Titans and the Outlaws via his connections with Dick Grayson and Jason Todd respectively.
Ace is frequently seen hanging out with the canine compadre of the Last Son of Krypton, Krypto the Superdog. Ace and Krypto were both prominently featured in the short lived Krypto the Superdog animated children's TV show, which ran its course throughout 2005. Both dogs have made minor cameo appearances in the Injustice series of video games and comic books, with many fans of the series hoping that both hounds will take on larger roles in the future. Neither Krypto the Superdog nor Ace the Bathound have graced the big screen yet, but the possibility is always there so long as Warner Bros. and DC Comics continue to make movies based on these characters.
In terms of recommended readings, folks interested in Ace the Bathound should read any of Batman's comics from the 1940's to the 1950's as the Caped Canine Crusader was much more prominently featured in those earlier books.
Catwoman Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Folks who are looking to name their pet after a character who's got layers and is more than meets the eye (and who doesn't want to name their pet Optimus Prime,) should consider naming their pet after Selina Kyle to pay homage to this ever-intriguing character - you could name your pet Selina or Serene if you're looking to give your pet a feminine name or you could name them Kyle or Kai if you're looking for a more masculine alias. You could also name your dog "Zero" after Catwoman's ex-nun sister if you're looking for a gender neutral option.
