Soto

We cheated a bit with our Cyborg Rebirth Featured Famous Dog, but we tried to intentionally do so in a way that fans of the Cyborg and the Teen Titans would be able to tell right off the bat. First off, Soto isn't actually the name of the dog; rather it's the name of the creature's master. We went with Soto because it's really the only given name associated with the dog, besides the Dog. It's also a wise practice to call the name of a dog's owner if you know it but not the dog's name - they'll likely respond to that much more positively than a stranger simply saying "here doggie" over and over again.

The other way that we cheated was that we pulled Soto from the well-beloved Teen Titans animated series that ran from 2003 to 2006. Fans of that show will remember that the original Soto was a rocky alien creature and that the Dog was his extraterrestrial pet. Fans will probably also remember how it was that Soto the Alien Dog even got mixed up with Cyborg and the other Teen Titans in the first place; due to Soto the Alien Dog's green fur, the team assumed that he was Beast Boy and more or less brought him along without a second thought.

Another notable dog that Cyborg has a connection to is Titus the Bathound. Titus is essentially Rebirth's answer to Ace the Bathound. Like Ace, Titus was adopted into the Batman family and trained to perform a number of amazing feats. Unlike Ace, however, Titus doesn't really fight crime on his own. Titus is also officially cared for by Damian Wayne, aka the current Robin. At first Damian, wasn't very fond of Titus, even trying to brush him off and push him away. Through sheer persistence, Titus managed to work his way into Damian's heart and the two have remained close ever since. Damian actually named Titus after Titus Andronicus, a play by Shakespeare.

Speaking of Ace, Cyborg has also had the pleasure of meeting Batman's right-hand hound before. Granted this meeting took place before DC relaunched their comics (both referring to the 2011 relaunch and the 2016 relaunch,) so it remains to be seen if Cyborg and Ace will work together again. What we do know, however, is that Ace has received a brand new origin story called "Good Boy" which actually pits him against the Caped Crusader in a life and death battle!

Considering that DC Comics has been in business since before World War II happened, that's definitely not a small feat to pull off. Yet the company did, with Cyborg Rebirth standing as a testament to DC's ingenuity and creativity.
