Krypto The Superdog

While under a yellow sun, Krypto the Superdog possesses the abilities of Super Strength, Super Speed, Enhanced Stamina and Durability, and many others that mirror his master's, the Man of Steel himself.

Comic book continuity can be subject to change, but the story of Krypto's original origin went along these lines; due to the concept of parallel evolution (a process in which similar traits manifest in two different species), the planet Krypton was filled with lifeforms that heavily resembled those found on planet Earth. While the human-like Kryptonians became the most prevalent species on the planet, Kryptonian dogs also rose to prominence as well and engaged in the same form of mutualism that Earth dogs practice with humans. As it happens, Krypto was actually revealed to be the pet of Jor-El, Superman's father and a leading scientific authority on Krypton who sensed his planet was in danger. In order to ensure his family's survival, Jor-El created rocket powered escape pods and tested one of the prototypes on Krypto. But Krypto's pod was knocked off course and he wouldn't arrive on Earth until many years later, where the previously infantile Kal-El was now a teenager who secretly fought crime as Superboy.

Krypto went on many adventures with Superboy, helping his master fight crime and deal with natural disasters, but when he wasn't on duty he'd often spend much of his time with Kal-El's Earthbound family, the Kents. Being every bit as capable and competent as his master, Krypto also understood the need for him to adopt a secret identity and so the Kents assisted Krypto in this endeavor by applying a patch of paint on his coat and calling him "Skip". Krypto was poised to embark on an illustrious as a canine crime fighter in his own right, and he even joined the Legion of Super-Pets and the Space Canine Patrol Agents.
