Dog Names After Makeup in Pop Culture
As a true fashionista and a makeup lover, you know that Chanel is one of the biggest fashion and cosmetics houses in the world. They make high couture clothes, ready to wear items, enchanting fragrances, and amazing makeup. Their loose setting powder and blush are products that many bloggers and beauty gurus swear by, and their fragrances are a staple in every girl’s cosmetics bag. Even Marilyn Monroe wore only Chanel 5 to bed! Coco Chanel changed the world, and what better proof than a famous doggo with the iconic name of the most iconic lady in the world of fashion?
Chanel, the dog was a little Dachshund from the United States who held a Guinness World Record as the oldest dog in the world! That is quite an achievement, especially if you find out that she lived for 21 years! That is 147 dog years! She was adopted when she was six weeks old from a dog shelter by Mrs. Shaughnessy, a single mom who was serving in the US Army in Newport News in Virginia, back in 1988. Sweet little Chanel spent six years of her life in Germany, where Mrs. Shaughnessy was assigned to go, so she was also a globe trotter, apart from being adorable. Later in life, Chanel wore tinted goggles to help with her cataracts and had to move in a stroller because she could not walk for long without feeling tired and being in pain, but her family happily transported her wherever she wanted to go. She also wore a lot of fashionable sweaters, just like Coco Chanel, because she was cold due to her old age.
After her family noticed that the Guinness Book of World Records does not have an entry for the oldest dog, with the previous title holder, Butch, dead in 2003, Chanel’s family forwarded her records to the Guinness organization to nominate her for the record. Guinness World Records gave Chanel her certificate as the oldest doggo in the world in a lavish birthday bash in Manhattan in May 2009. She became a bit of a celebrity after that and appeared in various talk shows, at the Today Show, Kathy Lee Show, and Live! With Regis and Kelly. She also attended fundraisers, including the Tavern on the Green one in New York, which she attended in her stroller. She died of natural causes in 2009 in her home in Port Jefferson Station in New York.
