If you are a Clint Eastwood fan then you will remember his dog Daisy from the movie Gran Torino. This classic film from 2008 features Eastwood portraying a veteran who lives alone in a neighborhood which has changed drastically especially in the ethnicity of the residence. Eastwood is a minority in his town and he has to face his prejudices and learn to live within his new community.

Daisy is a yellow lab and Eastwood's faithful dog who is frequently seen in the movie on and off the leash. Daisy will sit on the porch as Eastwood talks to her (or himself) about the neighborhood. Daisy follows the protagonist loyally throughout the film in the house, walking down the street or even running errands in his car.

In real life, Daisy was a professionally trained dog named Holly. As Holly was in many scenes of the film, she was frequently on set with her trainer. The set was constantly cleaned and the staff would make sure there was no debris that would potentially harm a dog. The cast and crew was also trained and instructed on how to handle Holly while filming. When Holly was acting as Daisy, the crew and cast was kept to only a small number of necessary people to ensure the dog was not scared and remained happy and calm. Such star treatment!

Daisy in Gran Torino isn't the only famous Daisy on the block. In more current pop culture, Jessica Simpson has a maltipoo named Daisy who was frequently photographed with the star and also appeared in her show Newlyweds.

Of course there are other "sy" dog names in pop culture; for example Bitsy, the dog in the comic strip Marvin. However, the name Daisy takes the cake in the pop culture category this time! Maybe because it is also currently one of the top dog names around.
