Introduction
Doraemon Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
Ichi first encounters the main protagonist of Doraemon (a young boy named Nobita) while he was playing a game of baseball with his friends. Ichi was a stray dog at the time and was eager to find a loving home, so he leaped at the opportunity to endear himself to Nobita when it arose. Opportunity struck when Nobita struck the baseball out, sending it flying into a nearby stream. Ichi went to retrieve the ball but he was nearly swept away by the current! Luckily Nobita was able to rescue the young dog - allowing the two of them to officially meet for the first time.
Nobita and Ichi became fast friends, prompting the boy to try and keep the dog as his pet. Nobita was eventually busted by his Mom, who told Nobita that he wouldn't be able to keep a stray dog as well as Doraemon. Initially heartbroken, Nobita used a high tech gadget called the Anywhere Door to transport Ichi to a stray pet sanctuary of sorts. Nobita soon realized that this sanctuary wouldn't cut it and resolved to transport Ichi and the other strays not just to another location but to another time period.
Once they reach their destination, Nobita uses an advanced piece of technology known as the Evolution Ray to drastically alter Ichi's and other stray's genome. After the process was complete, Ichi and other stray animals were able to walk, talk, and think like human beings! This small group of evolved animals eventually grew into a full fledged nation with Ichi as their leader. After making sure that his people were safe and secure, Ichi set out to reunite with Nobita leading to the events of the film Doraemon: Nobita in the Wan-Nyan Spacetime Odyssey.
Doraemon Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Even if you didn't grow up watching or reading Doraemon, you've undoubtedly seen the "super-sized, gizmo-ized, gadget cat" around if you're a fan of anime. After all, the robotic cat was deemed Japan's anime ambassador back in 2008 by Japan's very own Foreign Ministry. References to the Doraemon series have also been made via paintings on trains, statues, and an uncountable amount of merchandise. Considering that Doraemon is the longest running anime series, it's also not wrong to suggest that the show has influenced many other popular anime shows - even Shonen Battle Anime like DBZ or One Piece!
