Introduction
The twelfth and final sign of the zodiac, covering the period of February 21st to March 20th, is Pisces, a sign symbolized by a double fish. People born under the sign of Pisces or with a heavy Piscean influence tend to be open and compassionate people with an unusual and compelling artistic and musical flair. They are extremely forgiving and non-judgemental when dealing with others and are often willing to help with no intent of getting anything back for themselves. Their empathetic natures and emotional sensitivity makes them excellent listeners but it can sometimes lead them to be overly trusting towards others, and those that are frequently victimized or victimized when they are young may develop a martyr complex.
Famous Pisces Dog Names in Pop Culture
Comedian and long-time pet parent Chelsea Handler, herself a Pisces, has always been very public about her relationship with her canines. She first rescued the nine-year-old German Shepherd/Chow mix named Chunk in 2009, and she doted on him. He was given his own Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest account, and all the attention and love she could muster. Not long after that, in August of 2015, she adopted a sister for Chunk, another chow mix that she named Tammy, a name that the dog shared with eccentric Pisces televangelist Tammy Faye Messner, who was previously known as Tammy Faye Bakker before her very public divorce from Jim Bakker. When Chelsea’s somewhat controversial and politically charged self-named talk show aired on Netflix in 2016 Chunk was with her, but he became too distracting as he began wandering around the set and begging audience members to pet him, so the calmer Tammy began appearing in Season two more often.
Sometimes both dogs would attend and occasionally interrupt the interview in question, insisting on their fifteen minutes of fame, or petting. Then in August of 2017, tragedy struck and Tammy developed a renal disorder. They fought to keep the dog alive, but eventually, the fight became too difficult, and the choice was made to put her out of her suffering. Chelsea was devastated, reminiscing on Instagram about how Tammy would sleep outside of her bedroom door like a security guard and declaring that she would one day rescue another dog and that it would remind her of her love for Tammy every day.
Just a few months later, in January of 2018, Chunk passed away, shattering the comedian and talk show’s heart once again, leading her to post on Instagram that he was the softest dog in the world, and a true gentleman. It wasn’t long before she kept the promise that she had made to Tammy, and she rescued two new Chows, a brother and sister; one which she named Bernice and the other whom she dubbed Bert, a name he shares with Piscean and football Hall-of-Famer Bert Bell, the NFL commissioner from 1945 until 1959. The two new pups are as fluffy and lovable as her former chows. She announced their adoption on social media with the hashtag #chowrescues and while she admits no favorites, saying that she loves the two dogs equally, and both grace her social media accounts on a frequent basis she does admit to posting more pictures of Bert because he has a more interesting body.
Famous Pisces Dog Name Considerations
There are many things to take into consideration when choosing a name for your canine companion from a list of famous or notable people, like the one here. Your dog’s physical appearance and capabilities may help guide you to the perfect name, so that a name like Mia, honoring soccer icon Mia Hamm, or Rudolf, honoring the longest-lived Olympian gymnast Rudolf Schrader, may work well for dogs that are athletic and agile, while dogs that are burly and strong may be better suited to names like Floyd, for champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr, or Mae, to honor Mae Young, whose wrestling career spanned nine decades. Their habits and preferences can come into play as well, dogs that love to sing or howl have Bon Jovi, Queen Latifah, and Fats Domino as people to emulate, and those that prefer making people laugh can honor comedians like Bud Abbot of Abbot and Costello or for actress Bernadette Peters, known for her comedic performances on Broadway. The interests of the person doing the naming may also affect the choice of name, leading readers to choose names like Victor, for Victor Hugo, Lois, for Lois Lowry, or even Theodor, to honor the legendary Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr Suess and science buffs to honor scientists such as physicist and mathematician Albert Einstein or astronomer Caroline Herschel.
