Famous Scorpio Dog Names

Sylvia is the title of unusual Broadway play, a dark comedy by A.R. Gurney that played from October of 2015 to January of 2016, about a man named Greg, portrayed by Matthew Broderick, who finds a dog in Central Park and brings her home to his less-than-pleased wife.  Greg’s wife, played by Tony Award-winning actress Julie White, is not so fond of the dog, declaring that “The dog phase of her life is over,” causing strife in their 22-year marriage. Sylvia, the titular dog, is played by a human rather than a canine actor, and comedian Annaleigh Ashford does a delightful job of playing the pooch, an unconventional choice perfect for a play and pup that share a name with the incomparable and unconventional poet, Scorpio Sylvia Plath.

The rhinos and other endangered and at-risk animals at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya depend on a team of fourteen dogs and their handlers for their safety. Ol Pejeta is the last refuge of many animals including the last two specimens of the Northern White Rhinoceros, both female, and the team of dogs and handlers are used to find and stop poachers in order to protect these and other critically endangered animals. They are trained to track the scent of humans in order to locate the poachers and trained in patrol, attack, and ivory detection as well. One particular anti-poaching pooch by the name of Diego, a name the courageous Pit Bull shares with famous Scorpio soccer player Diego Maradona, was featured in a video in 2015 that showed a training sequence showing Diego in action, chasing and taking down a man disguised as a poacher. The dog scales cliffs, fords rivers, and leaps over fallen trees in pursuit of the “poacher,” eventually catching up to the man and biting down on his arm to prevent his escape until the rangers are able to arrest him. The team that trains and works with these amazing dogs is known as Pit-Track, an operation that claims a 100% success rate in keeping their dogs alive in some extraordinarily dangerous situations. Tyrone Marcus, a journalist who shadowed the Pit-Track group for a time, seemed to indicate that Diego was a calm and confident dog who wouldn’t quit when it came to tracking and could handle chaos without even the slightest flinch, but that the big dog would also insist on crawling into the reporter’s sleeping bag and cuddling with him at night.
