Introduction
Cartoons are more than just entertainment for children. While most are marketed toward children, there is a universal appeal that draws people of all ages. True, some cartoons are horrible and childish but there are some cartoons that are witty and intelligent. Take Gravity Falls for example, it is a wonderfully entertaining show that does not dumb down the humour. Most of it is slapstick, but you cannot help but enjoy the wonderfully weird world you find yourself in. Although it was cancelled, this cartoon still lives on in the minds of many, the names of the characters also endure.
Gravity Falls Dog Names in Pop Culture
As mentioned before, the show’s theme song was catchy. It was the right mixture of spooky, mysterious and upbeat, just like the show. The opening sequence showed Dipper and Mabel navigating the strange world they found themselves in. You get shots of all the important characters and a taste of the strange things that you are about to see. It does what an opening sequence should- it sets up the tone and mood for the episode to come. Without the opening sequence, the series would look be very different. You also would not have that opening tune stuck in your head for days.
It is safe to say that fans of the show loved the opening sequence. They loved it so much that one year, while all the puppy bowl shorts were coming out, the creators of the show decided to do something extra special for the fans of the show. While watching TV, the theme song would start playing. Curiously, people would lean closer. It was not time for the show to be airing. But when Dipper and Mabel made their appearance, fans could not help but laugh. The familiar opening sequence was playing, but every character had been replaced by a dog version of themselves.
The commercial did wonders for the show and Discovery Channel’s puppy bowl. Whenever the commercial came on, you could not help but smile. It featured an assortment of talented dogs dressed according to their role on the show. Mabel dog got her very own pig and sparkly sweater. The adorable dog even does a little dance like Mabel does. Although it is a dog, you can see the same personality traits in her. She smiles as widely as the character she is portraying and even has the same twinkle in her eyes.
Dipper dog got his own journal and Grunkle Stan got his own fez and walking cane. The best part is that the music is mostly comprised of barking. The familiar tune is still there, but now it is highlighted by the talented dogs barking in tune to the theme song. It was a fun moment for fans of the show. Even though the show has been cancelled, it is something that they can look back on with fondness. It may just be a commercial to some, but to others it is a reminder of how good that cartoon show actually was.
Gravity Falls Dog Name Considerations
Gravity Falls is a fascinating place. The cartoon was inspired by the creator’s own childhood summers with his grumpy grandfather. To a young child, all woods are enchanted with magical beasts and most things are a result of magic. In the series, we follow Dipper and Mabel’s adventures as they learn to adapt to life in the odd town of Gravity Falls. There is plenty of adventure and mystery, so you are left guessing at every turn. You are introduced to otherworldly characters that always manage to delight and surprise you. The supporting characters are a lot of fun too.
The characters are wacky, but three dimensional. The humour is easy to understand but clever. It is no wonder then that the show’s fan base is built out of a variety of ages. When the catchy theme song started playing, everyone in the house came to see what Mabel and Dipper were up to now. Maybe you would like a name for your dog that is as wacky as the characters, or maybe you are looking for a trip down memory lane. That is why every name on this naming guide is directly linked to Gravity Falls in some way.
