Introduction
Halo Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
The Halo franchise is host to a menagerie of extraterrestrial species, with the Morolaath species of reptillian bipeds even being referred to as blind wolves. The Morolaath appropriately lack any visible eyes or arms, instead having to rely on their keen senses of smell to help them survive. These very benign and unusual creatures were alluded to multiple times throughout Halo 2's campaign and multiplayer modes before players gt a chance to encounter these strange creatures later on in the game.
Earthbound animals are also frequently referred by the nicknames names of various characters in the Halo games as well as a number of the weapons and vehicles they us; the Condor aircraft, Scorpion battle tank, and the Falcon multipurpose utility helicopter are all used by the UNSC in their engagements with hostile forces. The UNSC M85 Coyote Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle also serves as one of the more prominent references to canines by way of the series' vehicular nomenclature. The M12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle, better known as the Warthog, is perhaps the most popular vehicle in the Halo franchise to be named after an animal; so much so that many fans created scale, fully operable replicas in real life that have allowed them to tear up terrain like just like the Chief.
Halo Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Often times, dog owners struggle to find unique and meaningful names for their pets that are also not overused or too conventional. Luckily, the Halo franchise offers a wealth of distinct names that are also culturally, artistically, and religiously significant by way of the names, ranks, and titles of the characters found therein. Master Chief, for instance, is the often used nickname of John 117 but it's also the name of his rank, which is based off of the real world United States military rank of Master chief petty officer. Furthermore, the chief's birth name, John, combined with his designated ID number, 117, can be viewed as an allusion to numerous other historical, religious, and culturally significant figures, like the 7th Bishop of Jerusalem "John I" or the Biblical verse John 1:17.
The characters from the Halo franchise are some of the most iconic and lasting mascots in the industry, so naming your dog after one of them is an excellent way to let others know that you're a died-in-the-wool Halo fan. The weapons and vehicles found within the series are also prime candidates for consideration, as many of them are also renowned in gaming culturally and have slick names that roll right off the tongue; Banshee would be a great name for a female dog or Ghost for a pup of either gender.
