Introduction
Jerusalem Dog Names in Pop Culture
Ezra is a mixed breed dog, resembling a Golden Retriever, who is owned by the Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) in Toledo, Ohio. After much training in how to be a therapy dog, the LCC appointed Ezra to work at the local courthouse as a comfort dog. While you may not expect to see a happy, cheerful dog wandering the courthouse halls, Ezra's smiling face is there every day!
At first, Ezra was brought in to be a comfort dog for children who had to be in court. Many were victims of domestic violence and the court wanted a way to help keep the kids calm and distracted in a stressful and tense situation. Ezra was just the dog for the job! He would sit with the kids while they testified, letting them pet him to stay calm. He was even known to give a lick or two to kids at just the right moments to help them relax!
After having much success with the younger sector, the courthouse requested that Ezra stay 'on staff' to help with adults who were also feeling stressed during testimony. Just seeing Ezra will bring a smile to people's faces and lends as a good distraction in an otherwise hard to manage situation.
Ezra is still a puppy and is unable to work a full 40 hour week just yet but the LCC has said they would continue to train the dog and lend his service to the courthouse. In fact, they have budgeted $20,000 for each year to go toward Ezra's food, vet bills and specialty training. The charity says that they see the need for Ezra in the community and all the good this service can do to help people through difficult times. Ezra is still on call for now on an 'as needed' basis but when he sees his work vest come out of the closet, he instantly gets excited, knowing that he is going off to work to help people! Hopefully, this happy pup will stick around to lend a sense of calm to an otherwise chaotic courthouse! Great job Ezra!
Jerusalem Dog Name Considerations
First, think about how strongly you want your dog's name to radiate the essence of Jerusalem. If you really want the world to know the meaning behind your dog's name, opt for one of the names that directly means 'Jerusalem'. The city has held many names throughout history so there is definitely going to be one you like!
If you want the Jerusalem presence to be a little bit more discreet, choose a name that is more commonly used for a person or pup. The city has many people living there, all with names strongly rooted in the history of the land! You should also enjoy saying the name out loud or, at the very least, the nickname. Practice calling the name as if you were calling your dog. If you like it, perfect! This is a great way to consider which name will be best.
