The follow up 2014's surprise hit spy comedy film Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle continues the story of the Cockney British gangster turned Super Spy Gary "Eggsy" Unwin as he follows in the footsteps of his mentor, the late Harry "Galahad" Hart. JB (which is short for Jack Bauer and not James Bond or Jason Bourne, as some might initially think) stands out as the most prominent dog in the Kingsman franchise by a mile; in Kingsman: The Secret Service, we saw Eggsy choose the tiny Pug as his companion, nurture him for months on end, go through the Kingsman Agency's grueling training process with the pup, and finally adopt him into his home by the end of the film. Eggsy developed an intense love for JB over the course of the film, even jeopardizing his eligibility to join the Kingsman organization due to his refusal to harm the dog during his final test. Though his scenes were relatively brief in the first film, JB was a huge source of comedy and a memorable character in his own right. In many ways, JB represented Eggsy's all-in-one strongest and weakest character trait; his unflinching loyalty to those he cared about.

Indeed JB was such a beloved character that when he, along with Roxy and Eggsy's other friends, were destroyed by a missile barrage rather early on in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, many fans cried foul and felt that the writers had gone too far by taking out the poor Pug as well as all of the other supporting cast members in one fell swoop. Director Matthew Vaughn has even expressed regret at having taken out so many characters all at once as well as admitting that he'd underestimated the impact that JB, Roxy, and the other's deaths would have on the series as a whole.

JB wasn't the only dog who met with an untimely end in the Kingsman franchise; after botching the final portion of his spy training, Eggsy is told by Harry that the who ordeal was staged and that the aspiring secret agent would have fired a blank round at JB if he'd pulled the trigger. As proof Harry presents the stuffed, well preserved remains of his own pet, an adorable Cairn Terrier named Mr. Pickle. While initially baffled, Harry's decision to display the remains of his deceased pet in his home, near his bathroom no less, Harry goes on to tell Eggsy that he keeps Mr. Pickle's remains around to remind him that "A Kingsman only condones the risking of a life to save another." Though the scene is played up for laughs, it also shows the degree of affection that Harry held for Mr. Pickles as well as represents his own values in life.

As mentioned before, the cool characters that were prominently featured in Kingsman: The Secret Service were large contributors to that film's success in their own right; whether we're talking about the calm and collected warriors who make up the ranks of the Kingsman agency or whether we're talking about Samuel L. Jackson's hilarious, well-intentioned but misguided villain Richmond Valentine, or his deadly assassin associate Gazelle, portrayed by Sofia Boutella, all of the characters from the first film really left an impression on cinematic history.
