Frannie

Frannie is actually the pet of series regular Kelli Giddish, who portrays detective Amanda Rollins on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (or SVU for short.) Frannie (whose full name is Frannie Mae Giddish,) is a Pit Bull mix who was found by Ms. Giddish many years ago while she was filming a scene back in 2010 for another police procedural show called Chase. Frannie was a stray dog at the time who was wandering the streets near the set where Ms. Giddish was working at the time. Ms. Giddish could tell that there was more to the dog than met the eye and, rather than turn the dog away, Kelli Giddish beckoned the dog over. Frannie politely trotted over to Ms. Giddish and acted in a very warm and friendly manner, immediately confirming Kelli Giddish's preconceptions about the Pit Bull mix. Ms. Giddish promptly adopted Frannie, named her, and gave her a home where she could love and be loved in return.

After a much needed period of readjusting to domesticated life and bonding with her new family, Frannie began to show that she was just as talented as she was friendly; much to her owner's delight, Frannie soon displayed that she was exceptionally great at taking directions and working well with others. Frannie had everything a dog needed to make a great actress, and Ms. Giddish set her sights on getting Frannie onto Law & Order after discovering her pet's remarkable talents. Frannie didn't immediately appear on the show as soon as she displayed her acting potential, but the Law & Order: SVU show runners agreed to let Kelli Giddish subtly mention Frannie in various episodes of the show.

Frannie was mentioned by Kelli's character, Amanda Rollins, numerous times during conversations with other characters before Frannie eventually made her first guest starring appearance on the show; during the opening scenes of Law & Order: SVU's Season 13 finale, Frannie can be seen happily playing with Kelli Giddish. Frannie would go on to appear in a number of other episodes alongside her owner in multiple other episodes and even help Amanda Rollins take down William Lewis, a dangerous criminal from Detective Rollins' past whose heinous acts had haunted Detective Rollins for a number of untold years.

Today, Frannie has her own Facebook page under the name "Frannie Mae Giddish". Frannie is often seen as an advocate and ambassador for Pit Bulls all around the world.
