Introduction

Neon Genesis Evangelion is translated as The Gospel of the New Century literally, and it is one of the most famous mecha anime series made to this day. Written and directed by Hideaki Anno, the series premiered in October 1995, and it is set fifteen years after the cataclysm. Shinji, the main character is a boy whose father recruited him to his organization NERV to be a pilot of a giant mecha machine called Evangelion, in an attempt to combat the Angels, which are actually aliens! The pilots and members of NERV try to prevent another cataclysm and find out the real truth behind these events.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Inspired Dog Name Considerations

If you are a fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the series had probably affected your life in some way. Maybe it opened the doors through which you jumped into the world of anime, maybe that is how you started watching all the mecha series out there, and maybe it inspired you to visit Japan, or develop some skills in case a cataclysm happens. Whatever the case is, now you want to commemorate that love by naming your doggo after one of the characters from the famous series. If that is the case, there are so many choices that it can become a bit hard to determine exactly which character to take as inspiration.

However, you can always start with the main character, Shinji Ikari, the Third Child and a Unit 01 pilot, son of Gendo and Yui Ikari, a young man whose father abandoned him, only to recruit him later to pilot a mecha known as Evangelion Unit 01. His guardian is Misato Katsuragi, whose name can be your dog’s new moniker, who is an operations director at Nerv, acting as a field commander for the Eva pilots. Or, you can take the name of one of the Angels, Adam, from whom all the Angels are descended, Lilith, discovered in the Black Moon under Japan, Tabris, who possesses amazing powers and he can block out light and subatomic particles, or Lilin, Lilith’s descendant who possesses the Fruit of Wisdom, the source of all intelligence and technology.
