The Haunted Mansion Inspired Dog Names

You are probably thinking that someone would have to be crazy to willingly stick around a place as haunted and chaotic as the mansion. Well, you're not wrong, but Silas and Bones have an incredibly complex reason for sticking around the Haunted Mansion;  in a comic book series based on the Haunted Mansion, it was revealed that the Caretaker's wife is buried somewhere in the Mansion's graveyard. Every night, when the Mansion's at its liveliest, Silas and Bones travel through the graveyard until they reach the resting place of the Caretaker's late wife. After which, the three of them all have dinner together and spend the rest of the frightful night in the company of loved ones. 

Bones isn't the only dog who has ties to the Haunted Mansion. In fact, there are a number of corporeal and phantom hounds that share a deep connection. Bones' counterpart in the Disneyland Paris version of the Haunted Mansion - the Phantom Manor - is simply known by Disney fans as the Phantom Hound. There's also Big Jake, a dog who's got a statue in the Mansion's pet cemetery. While much isn't known about Jake, it is known that his one mistake was chasing a toad down a well, leading to his untimely demise.

Lastly, the spectral hound, Zero, from The Nightmare Before Christmas also has a connection to the Haunted Mansion. Right around Halloween Time, Zero and his master - Jack Skellington - stop by the Mansion and redecorate the place from top to bottom. Zero and Jack stand out quite a bit from the Mansion's permanent residents, with the both of them retaining their cartoony appearances from their stop motion film. Zero and Jack are also just as friendly and full of holiday cheer as they were in their original film - in stark contrast to the villainous Oogie Boogie.
