The Nightmare Before Christmas is a delightful romp that was originally a book written by Tim Burton about a strange fellow named Jack Skellington who rules Halloween with his scary and daredevil ways. The book drew such a cult following that Burton decided to make it into an animated movie which has since become a celebrated holiday classic.

Jack Skellington is the long-time Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, but he begins to lose interest in the same year-after-year Halloween celebration. While he loves what he does, which is scaring the heck out of people around the world on Halloween night, he knows something is missing. With his trusty ghost dog Zero by his side, Jack retreats to the woods after the Halloween festivities where he discovers a circle of painted trees for each of the holidays. And there, glinting and shining with the image of a decorated Christmas tree was the door for Christmas Town.

Brimming with curiosity, Jack steps through and lands in a snowy, twinkling and jolly place where Christmas abounds in every corner. "What's this?" Jack wonders as he explores the festive houses, peaks on the soundly sleeping children and see the elves making presents. Impressed with this new land and all its sounds, smells and decorations, Jack decides to take the holiday back to the citizens of Halloween Town.

The skeletons, vampires, witches and monsters of Halloween Town don't really understand Christmas, but Jack seems determined to figure out what the holiday is all about. Meanwhile Sally, a patchwork doll come to life, watches him with wonder and sees the beauty in the new holiday. Soon, Jack decides that he wants to be Santa Claus and make his own version of Christmas and gets the town making scary and broken toys and Halloween-inspired Christmas decorations.

Sally is worried that what they are doing is wrong and tries to warn Jack. But Skeleton Jack is so wrapped up in his work that he goes too far, endangering Santa Claus and all the children around the world, creating chaos and havoc.

Jack personifies curiosity to the extreme, as well as an adventurous spirit and creativity. If your kitty can't stop exploring or loves to get in the middle of any fun family moment, Jack is a purrfect name for them.
