Zelda Dog Names

The Ocarina of Time is a game that tickles nostalgia like nothing else. Memories of the Nintendo 64 and the dawn of 3D games flood whenever the highly acclaimed title enters the discussion. Loyal fans will fight tooth and nail to argue the best game in the series, and it seems like the 1998 hit wins every argument.

It's not hard to see why - Ocarina's balance of fantasy plot and action adventure feels like a living, breathing world we would get lost in, too. That's why when we stepped into Hyrule Castle Town and got greeted by the pixellated yaps of the little dogs, we fell in love with this fantastic simulated city. We get a quest from Mamamu Yan in the evening that he couldn't find his prized pet Richard, we scrambled all over town to get a glimpse of the elusive dog! In return, we get a worthy, important piece of heart - but Richard has claimed ours! Richard is a Germanic name meaning "ruler" and "strong," so it's no surprise we jumped up at the chance to become a hero for the pup's sake.

 It's already hard to pick your pet's name from the large cast of characters - heroes and villains alike - so why not go the opposite route and opt for a side character that we know and love? Fans clamor for the attention to Hyrule's details, and the addition of this cute terrier lookalike should be no exception. Naming your dog after such a loyal and cute character is a sign of a great adventure to come! 

Another Zelda dog is the funny and gentle English Bulldog named Zelda Wisdom. From humble beginnings she is now a star in her own right with a line of calendars, cards, T-shirts and more. Her owner, Carol Garner, bought Zelda as a companion and then entered her photo in a Christmas card contest. Well, adorable Zelda Wisdom won and things just took off from there. Despite her celebrity status what Zelda really likes to do best is work as a therapy dog and she is just as good at that as she is a modelling!
