The urban city of Florance is the economic hub of Northern Alabama, resting on the confluence of the Tennessee River into Wilson Lake. The area was named after a region in Italy when an Italian land surveyor visited the town in 1818. Almost 200 years after the city got its name, the town has flourished and become a major hub for the area, providing blooming residential areas, major shopping centers, and large public parks that are also dog-friendly.

McFarland Park is a waterfront city park with over 50 acres of land along the Tennessee River. The area has campsites, a beach area, fishing piers and ponds, a golf course, plenty of picnic shelters, soccer and baseball fields, and winding walking trails. The entire area is dog-friendly and even allows dogs into the camping and beach area as long as pups remain on a leash. Additional features include nighttime lights, water fountains, clean-up stations, benches, and trash bins.

Deibert Park is on the northern side of the city and used to be an old horse farm. Nowadays though the park and its many features are used by humans and pups and include fishing ponds with fishing piers, a playground, and picnic shelters. There's lots of open space and a network of walking trails with access to features like water fountains, benches, trash bins, and clean-up stations.

Not only is Florence and economic center for northern Alabama, but it also provides plenty of outdoor space, walking areas, and 5 animal hospitals to the four-legged residents of the city.
