Located right next to the Delaware River, the Township of Florence is extremely picturesque, and is a popular destination with those who enjoy outdoor recreational activities. Not only are the quiet, waterfront streets of Florence pawfect for an urban dog walk, but the township's parks offer up plenty of greenery too, giving you and Fido the best of both worlds.

Florence is home to a couple of pawriffic parks, but the most scenic is the River's Edge Park, because, as you can tell from its name, this park sits on the banks of the Delaware River. There are some stunning views to be had from this park, and the beautifully-landscaped greenery all around you only highlights the area's natural beauty. There is a small play area and a few picnic benches within the park, as well as a paved trail that follows along the side of the river, making this a great spot for a picnic lunch and a leisurely stroll.

The largest parcel of greenery in Florence is at the Florence Recreation Complex. There are a number of sporting opportunities offered here, both indoor and outdoor, as well as a couple of paved walking paths that cut their way through the park.

With large grassy parks and pretty views, it is easy to see why Florence is so appealing to dogs.

The small town of Roebling is directly adjacent to Florence and right by the river, offering gorgeous waterfront views. There are a few different parks that you can take your pooch to here, beginning with the Jar Memorial Park, where you will find a playground and a few picnic tables. For an open green space, head to the Nyikita Field, which is a popular spot in town and often plays host to festivals and carnivals, while the Railroad Avenue Playground is pawfect for a short, leisurely walk. Dogs are welcome to use all of these green spaces, but do need to remain on a lead, and owners must always clean up after them.

Old York Tract in Bordentown is right next to Florence, and provides access to a large park that your pooch will no doubt love. The Ezra Bud Marter Park is spacious and green, and features a couple of play areas, several different sports facilities and a few picnic tables. What your pooch will enjoy most about this park are the three inter-connecting trails that snake along the eastern side of it. While they only total about a mile in length, they are lined with shady trees, shrubs and other plants, and will keep Fido busy with all of their exciting smells.

Directly across the river from Florence is the Bristol neighborhood of Edgely/ Landreth Manor in Pennsylvania, and there is a pawtastic dog walk to be found here. The Bristol Spur Line Park Trail is an asphalt trail that stretches out for two and a half miles, following along a historic rail corridor that has been around since the 1800s. This is an incredibly pretty trail, taking you through grassy fields, lush parks and a variety of neighborhoods, and will even show you Bristol Marsh, a unique freshwater habitat. Dogs are welcome to use this trail, but you will need to have a lead, doggie bags and drinking water with you.

The neighborhood of Burlington in Burlington is about a mile from Florence, and is home to quite a few spacious green areas. The largest is the Assiscunk Creek Park 2, which features woodlands, fields and a large pond, as well as a walking trail that extends out for about three miles. The Green Acres Park is also worth a visit, with its fields, sports facilities, playground and walking trails, while Meadow Oaks provides plenty of passive greenery for you and Fido to explore. Dogs are allowed to accompany their owners into all of these parks, but a lead, doggie bags and some drinking water are essential.

The neighborhood of Hedding in Bordentown is about two miles from Florence, and is home to one of the finest parks in the area. The 370 acre Crystal Lake Park is quite wild and rugged, and is named after the ten acre lake that lies at the center of the park. There is plenty to do here, from horseback riding to fishing to picnicking, but what your pooch will appreciate the most are the seven hiking trails that meander through the park. These vary greatly in length, from the 0.1 mile trail that follows along a part of the lake's shoreline to the six mile trail that encompasses the whole park.
