The Orion Township is known as a resort town. The city's motto is even, "Where living is a vacation", due to how many short-term residents live there at any given time, thanks to its forested areas, recreational preserves and nature hikes in and outside the city. Most of these places are dog-friendly, which attract long-term, and plenty of short-term, four-legged residents.

The Orion Oaks Dog Park is one the best dog parks out there, with over 14 acres of fenced-in land for Fido to run around off leash. The area includes a double-gated fence, and a separate area for smaller dogs. Usually, that would be enough for most residents and their dogs, but the park offers even more, with a designated doggie swim area that provides an extensive beach and waterhole for dogs. The park also has features like dog-sized water fountains, trash bins, and clean-up stations.

For a more urban exercise destination, head over to the Jesse Decker Park, a 24-acre, dog-friendly park with grassy fields, paved walkways, and a picnic area. Fido is welcome, but must remain on a leash at the park. Park features include water fountains, benches, and trash bins.

The town even offers seven veterinarians, and much more in the way of outdoor activities for you and Fido! Make Orion Township your vacation destination today!

As a rails-to-trails path, the trail is made up of old railways and travels north for over 32 miles. Dogs are welcome on the trail while leashed. After a few short miles, the path will lead straight into Camp Agawam, a dog-friendly campsite with over 140-acres of land.
