East Keego Harbor

When strolling with your pup through the center of town, stop by the Rose Sortor Park on Knowlson Street near Town Hall. You and your pup can walk around the perimeter of the park on the paved walkway and stop by the gazebo for a rest and cold drink of water. You can refill water bottles at the fountain and take Fido over to the pond to sniff the plants. Be sure to bring your own doggie waste bags and dispose of trash in the containers.

West Keego Harbor

In the West Keego Harbor neighborhood, Fran Leaf Park can be found on Brock Street and is a perfect place to take the kids and your pup. There is a canal that runs beside the park where Fido can have a snifftastic time, or bring your lunch and relax at one of the picnic tables. There is a fun playground for the kids, and you and Fido can walk around the park and get some exercise. Bring some doggie waste bags and bottles of water for your pooch. You can also access the Willow Beach Swim Site. There is convenient parking for both the park and the beach, with trash receptacles to dispose of waste.

The Lakes

The Baxter-Morgan Park is another fun destination for you and your pup. It’s located on Pridham Street and offers plenty of shade trees and an open field where your pooch can chase a ball or toy. There is a picnic shelter where you can relax with a snack, and the kids will have fun on the well-maintained playground. There is not a lot of parking, so you might want to carpool or walk to the park on nice summer days. The open field will give both you and Fido a great place for some exercise, and your pup can roll in the grass while you relax under a tree. You will need to keep your pup on a leash and bring your own doggie waste bags.

Pine Lake

Tate-Optimist Park is situated near the golf course and features a wide-open field where Fido can run off some energy. Play a game in the field and let your pup roll around in the grass. There is a picnic shelter where you can get out of the sun and relax with a snack, and the kids can play on the playground. You can access the West Bloomfield Trail from the park and hike with your pup south about three miles to West Bloomfield. Along the way, you and Fido will see plenty of wildlife and plants, just be sure to keep your pup on a leash.

Empire Drive

Sylvan Manor Park on Woodrow Wilson Blvd in West Bloomfield is just 5 minutes from the center of Keego Harbor, and serves as the eastern trailhead for the West Bloomfield Trail. You can hike the trail which connects with the Clinton River trail and give Fido some exercise. There is a basketball court for the teenagers and ADA compliant playground equipment for the kids. You can take the kids and your pup for a stroll along the path and let your pooch sniff the plants along the way. Remember to keep Fido on a leash and bring some doggie waste bags to clean up.
