Part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, the borough of Rochester is a lively and vibrant destination, with plenty to see and do. Not only will you find beautiful parks to explore here, but Rochester also boasts a pawtastic dog-friendly restaurant, making this the pawfect place to spend some time in with your pooch.

There are a couple of parks to check out in Rochester, with the most popular one being Riverfront Park. Located on the site of an old Native American village, this park has quite a bit of history behind it, and there is plenty of signage dotted throughout the park to teach you more about this. While the park is home to playgrounds, picnic areas and fishing spots, the highlight for Fido will be the two mile paved loop trail, which showcases the animal and plant life that live along the Beaver and Ohio Rivers.

If you and your pup would prefer a shorter walk, take a stroll over to Chewning Playground. This neighborhood park contains playground equipment that has just been upgraded, as well as picnic shelters and benches.

When you and Fido start to feel hungry, treat yourselves to a meal at the Hollywood Gardens. This dog-friendly restaurant was established in 1958, and specializes in American classics served up alongside draft beers from the nearby Brixton Brewery.

Right next to Rochester is the Beaver neighborhood of Beaver, and there are several different parks to be found here. Three of them are located right next to each other, with the first being Quay Square, where you will find a war memorial, paved paths and a few benches. Next to this is Irvine Park, with its gazebo, pathways and beautiful landscaping, while McIntosh Park is just a few steps away, and features grassy lawns and picnic benches. If you and Fido would prefer a longer walk, head on over to Gypsy Glen Park, where you will find a variety of sports facilities alongside a large open green space that is pawfect for a dog walk.

Directly across the Ohio River from Rochester is the Borough Center of Monaca, which enjoys incredibly scenic views thanks to its riverside location. There is always a buzz in this neighborhood, but the highlight for your pooch will definitely be the Monaca Riverfront Park. This picturesque park is home to a covered amphitheater, two playgrounds, three picnic pavilions with grills, and fishing piers with benches, giving you and your pup plenty to see. There is a paved walkway that will take you and Fido through the park, just be sure to keep your dog on a lead at all times, and don't forget to bring some doggie bags and drinking water with you too.

The neighborhood of New Brighton in New Brighton is right next to Rochester, and boasts a couple of parks that your pooch will love exploring. Begin at the Big Rock Park, which features seven acres of greenery, complete with picnic benches, fishing areas, and a walking trail that stretches out for half a mile. If you and your pup would like to try your hand, and paw, at fishing, take a stroll over to the New Brighton Fishing Park. There is 600 feet of shoreline here where you can fish from, and you could end up catching everything from Striper Bass to Northern Pike. Also in this neighborhood is Townsend Park, which is a small neighborhood park with a war memorial and a few benches.

Just over a mile from Rochester is the Center Township neighborhood of Monaca, where you will find a couple of spacious green areas to take your pooch to. The largest is the Center Township Ballfield, which is not only home to several different sports facilities, but also large open green areas that surround this, pawfect for a dog walk. Not too far away is Sylvan Crest Park, which is slightly smaller. This park contains a sports field, a basketball court and a swimming pool, as well as a play area, benches and several trees for Fido to sniff around in.

Less than two miles from Rochester is this neighborhood in Beaver, which provides access to one of the finest parks in the region. Brady's Run Park sprawls out for around 2000 acres, and includes a 28 acre lake that offers fishing, boating and swimming opportunities. The park is home to several other facilities too, such as tennis courts, skating rinks, 14 miles of trails, and a dog park. The dog park features separate areas for smaller and larger dogs, as well as fresh water during the warmer months, making this the pawfect place for your pooch to socialize with other dogs.
