Moncrief Dog Park is a completely fenced-in park where dogs can run leash-free to their hearts’ content. Moncrief has two separate areas – one for large breeds and one for small breeds – so no dog has to be uncomfortable around dogs that aren’t their size. This dog park has plenty of benches for owners to sit on, as well as doggie waste stations so cleaning up after your pet doesn’t have to be a hassle.

Starkville’s newest park, Patriots Park, is a great outdoor adventure for you and your pooch to visit. Patriots Park has a pavilion, playground equipment, and green space, which is perfect to play fetch in with Fido. If you’re looking for a smaller park to enjoy with your dog, then mosey on over to Josey Park which has playground equipment and grass, as well as concrete courts and a smaller space for your dog to have fun and feel comfortable. The large sports fields are also available for romping, so long as its in between games and you are sure to clean up after your pup! Both parks are reasonably close to each other, so you can visit both in an afternoon!
If you’re hanging around downtown with your dog, stop by The Veranda for some great food that you and your pup can devour. The Veranda is a classy Southern Restaurant that offers soul-food that includes seafood, steak, and pastas. They also have two bigger dishes, the Surf and Turf which has numerous seafood items and two sides, or the Blue Plate Special which is loaded with Southern goodness. The Veranda welcomes your dog at one of their outdoor patios and split an order of their peanut butter balls with him. They have long hours so there is plenty of time for you and your pooch to arrive.
McKee Park is the City Center neighborhood is a lovely green space that houses a whopping 6 baseball fields! With other sports courts, a pavilion, concession stand and restrooms, this park can get crowded on game nights! During quieter times, it is a perfect place to walk your leashed pup. Afterwards, swing by Starkville’s Pet Store and Grooming Salon for your all your dog’s needs. This local pet store is more than just for supplies- they also offer grooming and training too! If Starkville’s Pet Store doesn’t have what you require then head over to Tractor Supply Co which raves about having the largest selection of dog toys, treats, and food. They welcome your dog into their store so long as he remains on leash.
This neighborhood in the northern corner of Starkville boasts a pawsome park for your pup to explore! J.L. King Memorial Park offers two large fields ready for romping and playing. Take a leisurely stroll down the walking path that is also lighted for nighttime enjoyment. The public splash pad is perfect for cooling you and your dog off on those hot summer days! A large pavilion offers picnic tables and can be rented for events, and there are restrooms on site. Be sure to bring a bowl for water, and keep your pup leashed in this public area.
