Downtown Tupelo
One of the best features for you and your pup in the downtown area is Gumtree Park. You can walk Fido along the lighted walking paths day or night and admire the gardens. You can also pack a picnic lunch and relax at one of the picnic areas with friends and their canine companions, or watch the kids run around the playground. Your pooch will have a furtastic time sniffing the trees and rolling around in the cool grass. If you need a place to stay in the area, the friendly staff at Candlewood Suites welcomes pups for an additional fee.

Veterans Park
In the Veterans Park neighborhood, Fido will love the Tupelo Bark Park! There are separate areas for large dogs and small pups so everyone can run around, play, and enjoy the fenced area. The convenient location off the highway is perfect for visitors who are passing through to visit Elvis’s birthplace and let the pups out to stretch their legs. During the summer months, your pooch will enjoy the plastic pool where he can cool off, and there are plenty of clean-up bags and water bowls available. The Veterans Park which surrounds the Bark Park also features a splash pad, disc golf, and a Vietnam memorial. After some fun and exercise at these pawtastic parks, stop by Johnnie’s Drive-In where you can order lunch from your car.

Palmetto & Bissell
Located off Mitchell Road, the Theron Nichols Park is a neighborhood park where Fido can stretch his legs and sniff the grass. The park covers 35-acres and features lighted ball fields in addition to the walking trail. Kids will love coming to the park and playing in the splash pad while you and Fido relax on a shaded bench and drink some water. Your pooch will also enjoy running through the open areas, or joining the family for lunch at one of the picnic tables. You will need to bring your own clean up bags, and there are trash cans located throughout the park.

Plantersville
Six miles south of Tupelo in the boundaries of the small town of Plantersville, the Tombigbee State Park is an amazing Fido-friendly destination. You can walk along the nature trails or set up your tent and camp in one of the standard or primitive sites. The park features a lake with a fishing pier, playground for the kids, and a disc golf course. The convenient location is great if you are passing through the area and need to give your pup a good walk. The trails are peaceful and tranquil, allowing you and your pooch to relax and enjoy the great outdoors.
Lawndale Dr/ West Main St
Located near the elementary and middle schools, Lee Acres Park, also known as Dot Cooper Park, features a playground for the kids and wide-open spaces to walk Fido. There are softball fields and basketball courts where families can get some exercise, and your pooch can stretch his legs. Sniffing the grass and chasing a frisbee will keep your pup entertained, and you might see other pup parents out with their dogs. You can sit on a bench and relax while Fido laps up some water, and be sure to bring your own doggie waste bags. The whole family will love walking to this convenient park and spending some time in the fresh air.
