Thirty-five minutes south of Jackson, Bolivar is a quaint small town with friendly neighbors and parks for Fido. The town offers a variety of pooch-friendly activities and sidewalks where you can walk your pup on a leash. Residents of town can also take advantage of the veterinarian clinic in town where Fido can get routine appointments or emergency care.

West Park is located on Athletic Lane and features a playground and three ballfields. You can stroll with your pooch around the ballfield on a paved sidewalk, or relax on the bleachers and watch the kids play a game. There are restrooms and a concession stand when games are in session, and the open field opposite the park is great to play a game of fetch with your pup.

If you are visiting friends or family in Bolivar, there are three hotels where Fido is welcome. Travelers Inn and Bolivar Inn are on Market St and Aristocrat Motor Inn is on Porter St. You can stay at any of these hotels with your pup for a small extra fee.

The swimming pool is also located in the park, so let the kids enjoy the water while you and Fido spend quality time together. Close to the city park, you can also walk down to Frog Town Park at the intersection of Madison and Morgan Streets. You can walk around the basketball courts and get some exercise, just be sure to bring your own doggie waste bags.

The pond is stocked with trout if you and your pup enjoy fishing while the teenagers play a game on the disc golf course. With over 170 acres of green space, you and your pup will be entertained for hours.

    About 11 miles east of Bolivar, Big Buck Resort is located in Hornsby and is a great destination for Fido to run and stretch his legs. There are ATV paths and hiking trails where you can walk with Fido and enjoy some fresh air. Primitive camping is available, and you can pitch a tent and spend the night under the stars with your pup. There are a few spots for motorhomes, and the resort offers a swimming pool and a playground for the kids. You can walk around the lake and spend some time fishing, or let your pup sniff the plants and trees. Be sure to bring your own doggie waste bags and spend the day, or the week, having fun in the great outdoors.

The campground is part of the Thousand Trails group in case you are eligible for a discount as a member. If you are looking for some fun and easy access to local attractions like Graceland or the paddle-wheel riverboat cruises, take your pup and head to the campground.
