Have you ever been to a dog park with dog washing stations? It is the best thing ever! That's our opinion; dogs may disagree. The Hannah Daye Ridling Bark Park is one of those parks with dog washing stations and that's just one of the reasons you should go. The park is split into an area for small dogs and an area for large dogs. Plus, you don't have to worry about your pride and pooch catching anything not-so-funny like rabies, because there's a ranger on duty to check every dog's tags before they enter the park. Hannah Daye Ridling is really blowing all of our expectations out of the water! Enjoy yourselves on the grounds and take a break for lunch under a gazebo. Then, burn it off on the walking trails that flank both sides of the park.

With 24 acres of mostly grassy greenways, the Ida Bell Young Park is a great place to romp, roll, and stroll. Located on the east side of town, not far from the main highway, this park is great for road-trippers and tail-sniffers. If you're a local, pick up your pup after work and stop by for a game or just a quiet moment by the natural, freshwater stream running through the campus. You could even ask your pet-allergic friend to join for a game of solo-disc golf while you're walking your dog. At Ida Belle, everybody plays!

Come one, come all to Vaughn Road Park! Adults, kids, big dogs, small dogs, highly trained Peregrine falcons! Okay maybe not that last one, but you get the point. This 21-acre park is not a designated dog park but has something for everybody. Make it a group Satur-date at Vaughn Road Park and wag your tails on green pastures and recently-paved running trails while your buddies play Venus and Serena on the tennis courts. Children will love the brand new Boundless Playground. Meet back up for lunch under the picnic shelters and then get cleaned up at the public restrooms. Be sure to keep your pets on-leash and to dispose of waste.

Lagoon Park Trail is located in the northeast section of Montgomery. It offers some of the best wildlife watching in the city limits. Park at the entrance and follow the Forest Road Trail through a wooded section for over a mile before the trail veers right and begins to snake around the backside of the lagoon. Keep your eyes peeled for many different birds, turtles, and fish that are living life to the fullest in the wetlands, forests, and creeks. Definitely keep your fur-buddy on a leash to ensure all animals, housebroken and wild, stay safe. All in all, the trails cover over 5 miles of terrain through 432 acres of protected property. The park is open sunrise to sunset. Amenities are limited, so be sure to pick up any waste. Most importantly, have fun!

The Alabama River snakes back and forth through downtown Montgomery, Alabama. On a warm day when you and your dog have just left the trails and are heading into town for a bite, Capitol Oyster Bar is the place to stop. This restaurant on the east bank of the river prides itself on having the best view, best live blues music, and the title of best seafood restaurant in town. We'd like to add one more to that list - dog's favorite restaurant - because the deck is open to our four-legged friends. Even dogs can agree - the only thing better than hiking down a beautiful trail is sitting pretty with a cold beverage, whether it comes in a glass or a bowl, which servers will happily bring. Once you've burned enough calories for one day, there's really nothing left to do but sit back and enjoy good company.
