At first we were very nervous about Damien walking with another person because he has only been on walks with his owners and he tends to pull a lot. When we met and talked with Linsey she put our minds at ease because of her excessive knowledge with large dogs. She was very personable and she brought treats for Damien that he went crazy for.. also she was teaching him along the way! couldn't of asked for a better first experience.

The busy City Center of Lompoc is home to some large outdoor murals, and some urban parks as well. The 22 acre Ryon Memorial Park is a town favorite, and hosts a variety of community events throughout the year. This includes Springfest, Flower Festival, Lompoc Valley Kennel Club dog show and much more. Here you can also find a large variety of athletic fields and plenty of sprawling grassy areas just pawfect for sniffing and playing. Leashed dogs are welcome, just don’t forget the waste bags! When your stomach is growling, head over to South Side. Here you can enjoy some fabulous coffee and a bagel next to your pooch on the dog friendly front patio.

North East

Locals rave and tails wag about River Park, located in the neighborhood of North East. This park is rightfully named, because it lies adjacent to the scenic Santa Ynez River, with a backdrop of agricultural fields. This large, 45 acre park is great for family gatherings because of its many barbeque pits and picnic areas. Your pupper is sure to love the walking trail and the open grassy areas in this park, just perfect for some fresh air and exercise. Kiwanis Lake, a small man-made fishing pond within the park attracts a variety of wildlife. If you want to stay here for a while, you can make use of the River Park RV campground.

Summerwood/Windscape

If you're in the Summerwood/Windscape neighborhood of Lompoc, you’re in for a treat! This neighborhood is proud home to the Barkin Park. The Barkin Park dog park allows dogs to have a safe place to burn some energy and enjoy a little pawsitive socialization. There are two separate fenced off sections, one for small breeds and another for the big guys. Here you can find everything you need for a good time, including drinking water, dog toys, waste stations, and benches for the humans. All you need to bring is your playful pup! If you want to take a stroll, the East West Channel Bike Path also connects to the park. Dog’s need to stay leashed when not inside the fenced off areas, and to follow proper petiquette!

Crestview & Beattie Park

In the southeast corner of Lompoc, you can find the neighborhood of Crestview and Beattie Park which hosts the expansive, 50 acre Beattie Park. This beautiful park lies against the foothills of Lompoc, and you can even see the Pacific Ocean from one of the view points. Here you can find something for everyone! The park features many different athletic fields, picnic areas, and playgrounds. You and your doggo might especially love the fitness trail that winds through an urban forest in the park. Leashed dogs are welcome! For a cold treat on a hot day, head over to Foster’s Freeze in the same neighborhood. This casual eatery features ice cream, burgers, and much more that you can enjoy at the outdoor pet friendly table.

Westvale

The neighborhood of Westvale, in the southwest corner of Lompoc, has its own little namesake park to enjoy. Westvale Park is a peaceful 2.4 acre park featuring benches and a playground. There are also open grassy areas your pup will love to sniff and play on, and mature shade trees to relax under. To continue the adventure, take a hike up to Lookout Point along the Bodger Rd Trail. This trail can be accessed from S Z St. It’s quite a workout to get to the top, so don’t forget drinking water for you and your parched pup! The view is worth it though, because once you arrive at the top, you can enjoy sweeping panoramas of Lompoc and the surrounding foothills. Leashed dogs are welcome to join their two legged friends!
