Pine Street
The Pine Street area of Solvang, CA is just a bit over 20 miles from Mission Hills. This area may not offer much in the way of doggie parks, but it sure has some interesting spots for you and your favorite pooch. Like the Wandering Dog Wine Bar, for instance, which allows dogs inside to join their owners for wine and beer tastings! Or, check out a wine tour with your pooch with Golden Rooster Transportation and Wine Tours, which helps you see everything this beautiful wine country has to offer. Carivintas Winery is also paw-friendly, even giving your dog a comfy pillow to relax on during wine tastings.

Waller Park
Around 18 miles from Mission Hills is Waller Park in Santa Maria. This neighborhood is where you’ll find the beloved Woof-Pac Park, a fun, off-leash park with plenty of space to let your dog run, play, and get some exercise with his furry friends. You can also hop on board the Santa Maria Valley Railroad Trail, an almost-three-mile-long trail in the Rails-to-Trails organization that allows leashed pups to explore with their owners. Hungry bellies can check out Rickey’s House of Pizza for some incredible pizza combinations, sandwiches, salads, and more. Pups are allowed at outdoor tables for a bite with their owners.

Ocean South in Oceano, CA will take you a little more than 36 miles to drive to, but it’s worth it if you’re looking for a paw-friendly beach. Here is where you’ll find Pismo State Beach, one of the most pupular beaches in California for dogs and their owners. Leashed pups are welcome to dig their furry toes in the sand and enjoy a day of fun in the sun with their favorite humans. There are also several dining opportunities that offer outdoor seating for dogs and their owners, like Station Grill, a casual restaurant that serves up just about everything, from meatloaf to Asian-inspired rice bowls.

Just under 30 miles from Mission Hills is Nipomo West, a neighborhood in Nipomo, CA. If you’re heading to the beaches of Oceano, you can make a pit stop in this neighborhood, which has a dog park and some paw-friendly restaurants! The off-leash area of Nipomo Park will let your dog run off some energy and make some new friends along the way.
