It has a playground, ball fields and plenty of picnic space. Follow the 1.5 mile paved path and let your pooch soak in the wooded ambience. Since this trail is multi-use, make sure Fido is leashed at all times. After your walk, stop by St. Tammany Pet Center where the shelves are stocked with top of the line dog food, treats, and accessories. If you want your pup’s tail to wag, let her pick out a post workout snack.

Oaklawn

Treat your fur baby to an outing at Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. Located in the Oaklawn area of Lacombe, this 18,000 acre refuge is just a couple miles west of Eden Isle. Dozens of birds, reptiles, mammals and fish call this refuge home. Fur-tunately, leashed pups are welcome to enjoy the marshy environment as well. Head over to Boy Scout Road and take your canine companion down the boardwalk for spectacular views. If she’s got a bit more energy, a four mile hike leads to the banks of Bayou Lacombe. Whichever trail you choose, your pal is sure to have a tail waggin’ time.

Blanco St/ Orchard St

Dogs living Eden Isle are lucky to have Camellia City Bark Park just minutes away. Located in the Blanco Street and Orchard Street neighborhood of Slidell, this four acre park provides plenty of room for romping and playing. Let your pooch ditch his leash and run around to his heart’s content. Small dogs have their own play area, so there’s no need for the petite pooches to feel overwhelmed by the heavy weights. This puptastic park even has exercise and agility equipment for added entertainment. Water is available, so be sure to have your pup take a drink break every once in awhile.

Slidell City Center

Possum Hollow Park is only a bone’s throw away from Eden Isle. Load your pup into the car and drive five miles north to Slidell City Center in nearby Slidell and enjoy some time in this neighborhood park. Hook a leash onto your pooch’s collar and stroll through the large grassy fields. She’ll love sniffing around and discovering the new smells this park has to offer. A large grove of trees sits on one end of the park, so there’s plenty of opportunity for your dog to search for the perfect stick. Chances are she’ll even catch sight of a squirrel or two.

North Slidell

North Slidell in the nearby town of Slidell is just a five mile trip north of Eden Isle and is home to Heritage Park. Bring your four legged friend over for a delightful afternoon outing. This park sits on the banks of Bayou Bonfouca so you can enjoy the waterfront scenery. Get your pal’s heart rate pumping with some laps around the walking/jogging path. For a nice cool down, take a seat on one of the benches and let your furry BFF watch the two legged park visitors. Locals flock to this park since it has picnic tables, playground equipment, a large gazebo and a boat launch.
