I'm a dad to two spoiled dogs one of which was a foster who conned me into adopting him. I'm the designated dog bosrder for my friends when they go on vacation so it's not uncommon for me to have four dogs staying at my house sometimes. I grew up with dogs and couldn't wait to get older when I could get my own. I've always loved dogs and with Wag I can hang out with dogs and get paid, you can't beat that!

Seabrook is a small subdivision in New Orleans East. Up until the late 19th century, this area was considered outside of the New Orleans city boundaries. It started to grow in the early 1900s and now stands as a key residential section of the city. Folks living in Seabrook have seen their fair share of natural disasters, particularly with Hurricane Katrina. No bones about it, pets and people in this neighborhood are resilient and full of spirit.
New Orleans Lakefront Airport creates the northern tip of Seabrook. This small airport rests right on the banks of Lake Pontchartrain. There are also plenty of residential streets to wander around with your furry friend by your side. He’ll love struttin’ his stuff while getting to know the locals. A walk through this neighborhood will let your pup feel the vibe of suburban New Orleans. Seabrook boasts one local veterinary clinic, and many others in surrounding areas.
There are plenty of places to take your canine companion in the area. Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge is just a few miles away. This marshy natural space is chock full of notorious Southern wildlife (eek, alligators!). And if you are just passing through, you’ll find a couple of hotels that welcome four legged friends. Come on over to Seabrook for a puptastic time!
East Seabrook is home to Kenilworth Park. Nothing beats spending some time at the park with your favorite furry pal. Your pup will have a fetching time out in the fresh air mixing it up with the locals. Two legged visitors can shoot hoops or play a little baseball. Four legged friends can take their time sniffing around the grassy field. Once you’ve circled the park a couple times, take a brisk walk through the residential streets. A little doggy cardio is always a good thing, and it will certainly make your pal’s tail wag.
Let your furry BFF check out the local wildlife at the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge. Located just 10 miles east in the New Orleans neighborhood of Southpoint, this refuge is sure to bring some pep to your pal’s step. Venture down the Bayou Sauvage Ridge Trail. This out and back trail is a total of 6.8 miles and provides pawsome views of Bling Lagoon. But you don’t have to go the whole distance to see the marshy scenery. If your dog isn’t the athletic type, just go as long as his paws can handle. The Ridge Boardwalk Trail is another option. Just be sure to keep your pup leashed and on the trail, as you never know what’s lurking in the water.
Three miles west of Seabrook in the Pontchartrain Park neighborhood of New Orleans, you’ll find Pontchartrain Landing. This gated community has almost everything you can think of, including rental villas, a restaurant and bar, a marina and most importantly pet friendly RV sites. So if you and your pal are sticking around NOLA for a few days, see if there’s an available spot. Just keep in mind dogs are only allowed in the RV sites and must be on leash when walking around the grounds. When your four legged friend is ready for some exercise, Pontchartrain Park is just a bone’s throw away. Head over to for a delightful afternoon stroll in this lovely green space.
The New Orleans neighborhood of Lake Terrace and Oaks is only three miles west of Seabrook and has a couple pupperific parks for your fur baby to explore. Start your adventure at Lake Oaks Park. Your leashed pooch will love cruising around this large open space. Trees are scattered throughout the park, so if your pup starts to heat up, take a break in the shade. Head over to London Park for a nice waterfront stroll. A paved path runs beside London Avenue Canal. You can also cross Lakeshore Drive and spend some time on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Sounds like a pawsome time!
West End is home to Breakwater Park and West End Park. These gems are only eight miles west of Seabrook in the most northwestern park of New Orleans. Breakwater Park is a small peninsula that juts out into the Lake. Relax by the water with your four legged BFF at your side. Or walk around the marina and admire the docked sailboats. West End Park is a favorite gathering spot for dogs living in the marina district. If your pal needs some exercise, follow the paved walking paths and let him stretch out his four legs. Or just find a nice spot under one of the old oak trees and enjoy each other’s company.
