Algonac
Algonac Michigan is a small and intimate neighborhood that overlooks the St. Clair River, which is as close as you can get to the United States/Canada border! Algonac State Park offers visitors access to the 1,500 acres of land it is situated on, access to the river bank, archery, trap shooting, camping, and hiking. On-leash dogs are allowed to accompany their parents while enjoying these amenities! St. Clair Flats State Wildlife Area is plotted on 3,355 acres and offers birding, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, wildlife viewing and hiking trails. From April 15 - July 15 dogs are required to be on leash. However, any other time of the year they can run around off-leash!

New Baltimore
Directly across Anchor Bay and about 13 miles from Algonac, New Baltimore offers gorgeous views, dining, and plenty of shopping. Ruedisale Pointe Park, Walter & Mary Burke Park, Maynard Memorial Park, and Festival Park all provide walking paths and public space areas that on-leash dogs are invited to experience! The local Dog Zone Training & Activity Center likes to host informative readings with Pet Communicator Leslie Cirinesi to help you learn and understand your dog better! Heads up: participating in this event is by appointment only if you plan on joining.24

Charter Township of Clinton
Just 45 minutes from Algonac, the Charter Township of Clinton is a dog-friendly locale that offers quick and easy access to Interstate 94 and Hall Road. Clinton Township Dog Park is a 1.5-acre fenced, off-leash dog park that features drinking fountains, waste bags and benches for humans to relax while their pups burn off some extra energy! Behnke Memorial Dog Park is another off-leash, fenced-in area that includes fire hydrants, water, trees and benches. The Mall at Partridge Creek is a fun outdoor shopping mall that is dog-friendly. Stores that allow pups are clearly marked and there are even doggie comfort stations and dog sculptures.

Gross Pointe Woods is approximately 35 miles from Algonac; it sits just across Lake St Clair. Gross Pointe Woods Dog Park at Lake Front Park is a fully fenced-in, open range that allows dogs to run off leash and socialize with other dogs to their hearts’ content! The Statler Maloof Bark Park at Brys Park is a popular off-leash dog park that includes amenities like separate play areas for large and small pups, shade trees, picnic tables, water and waste bags! Balduck and Chandler Park both allow on-leash dogs to enjoy the property and all amenities offered, making it a great option for dogs that do not like dog parks
Royal Oak
Royal Oak is a community that is extremely accommodating of dogs, has plenty of shopping, dining, entertainment and recreation! It is only about 45 miles west from Algonac and is very accessible from Interstate 94. Mark Twain Dog Park is a great place to take your pooch for off-leash fun in a securely fenced-in space that requires a membership to make sure all dogs are vaccinated and registered. Wagner Park Dog Run is another option to take your pup for some off-leash fun. This dog park is not fenced, so please keep an eye on your fur baby for their safety.
