Blue Ways of ST Claire
Haynes Park is known for its children's playscapes that go beyond the normal playground. It also has a paved walkway where you can walk your dog in the countryside that Port Huron is known for. Your pooch will, of course, need to be on a leash. You will want to carry doggie waste bags with you as well. There are water fountains -- a couple of them at dog level -- for you and your dog to drink from. This park is designed for families, so come on out and plan to make a full day of it. Don't forget to bring a picnic!36

Black River
It simply wouldn't be fair to leave the Blue Water River Walk out of this guide. It is the most barktastic place to walk your dog that you'll find in Port Huron! It is a mile-long section of the 50-mile Bridge to Bay trail. There are outdoor displays of public art, markers to tell you about each section, and even an aquatic wildlife habitat. The best part is that it is open all day every day. Come and enjoy this quiet area; just don't forget your leash and your doggie waste bags. You may want to bring water bottles with you if you plan on staying a while.24

Avoca
Rails-to-Trails has transformed the former Flint and Pere Marquette Railroad into the Wadhams to Avoca Trail. This trail stretches over 12 miles. You can start in Avoca at the former grain elevator, or catch the trail four miles outside downtown Port Huron. The coolest feature of this trail is the historic rail bridge that sits 60 feet over the valley, providing amazing panoramic views. You will want to bring your own drinking water because there are no fountains along the way, although there are restrooms. The trail is mostly paved, but there are a few sections that feature gravel. Fido will need to stay leashed on this trail.12

Amour Street
Palmer Park is located at the center of the Recreation Departement. Although your dog can't join you inside to play, he probably won't mind too much, since he has almost 8 acres to explore outside! Besides the walking trails, there are woods and a ravine to explore here. The playground is open from sunup to sundown. There is a restroom with water fountains, but you may want to bring a dish for your pup. This is a leash-only park, but with so much to do, your pup won't mind being on-leash! Please bring your own doggie waste bags to keep this park clean for everyone.
