Northeast Westland
The Wayne County Parks Dog Park in northeast Westland, Michigan is just over a half-hour drive from Carleton. This park is a pawpular place for local dogs and their owners to come for some off-leash fun while dogs socialize and exercise in a fenced-in space. The park is three acres, and that space includes a section for little dogs and another for big dogs. There are two shelters in the park, and there is also agility equipment for the dogs to play on. Before you visit, please be advised that you must register your dog by providing proof of vaccinations and paying a small fee.36

Town Center
Heritage Park in central Canton, Michigan is less than a 30-minute drive from Carleton. This community park is free for everyone to use, and while it doesn't currently have an off-leash area, the parks and rec department is considering adding one, so that's something to look forward to! In the meantime, your leashed dog is welcome to join you for a day of fun at this local park. There are sports fields, playgrounds, walking paths, picnic facilities, baseball diamonds, a splash park, pavilions, and an amphitheater in Heritage Park, which means there's something there to please everyone in your family.24

Northwest Woodhaven
One of the most popular barks in the Carleton area is the Brownstown Dog Park in northwest Woodhaven, Michigan, and it's less than a 20-minute drive from Carleton. This dog park is located next to the Brownstown Animal Shelter, and it features separate areas for big and small dogs. There is a small yearly registration fee ($25 for residents and $35 for non-residents) to enter the park, but that covers up to three dogs and goes toward keeping the park in such great shape. Within Brownstown Dog Park there is seating, shade, running water, and waste clean-up supplies. The surface consists of pea gravel and grass.12

Hall Road
Woodhaven has another great dog park that's only 20 minutes from Carleton, in the town's center. WOOFhaven Dog Park has separate sections for big and small dogs and provides plenty of space for happy dogs to run and play. This park is also membership-based, and some of the park's features include picnic tables, benches, shade, waste clean-up stations, and in the summer, there are small pools for the dogs to play in. Please be advised that only two dogs per person are allowed in the park at one time, so if you plan to visit with a pack of dogs, you'll need to be accompanied by other people.
