Check out some of Mitchell’s puptacular parks in the South Mitchell neighborhood! First stop, Ziegler Park! This large open grassy park is a great place for a stroll with your leashed pooch! There are shady trees too, perfect for a little relaxation time after some exercise with your furry friend. Ziegler Park also has a picnic pavilion, a playground, tennis and basketball courts, and restrooms. For an extended walk, stroll the sidewalks of this quiet residential area! Kiwanis Park is another pawsome park in the area where you and your four-legged pal can explore. There’s a big grass runway, trees, a playground and a picnic table.
There’s tons of tail-wagging fun waiting for you and Fido in the North Mitchell neighborhood! This area is home to Freedom Park, a woofderful community green space where you and your pup can spend some quality outdoor time together! The park has a huge open grassy area where you and your leashed dog can walk and play. There are quite a few trees around the perimeter of the park, so don’t be surprised if your furry friend sniffs out a squirrel or two! Freedom Park also has a playground where your two-legged kiddos can wear themselves out. Pack a picnic and grab a seat with Fido at a covered table in the park! This neighborhood is also home to Centennial Park.
When it comes to furrific places to hang out with your pup, you’ve got options in the North Scottsbluff neighborhood! About nine miles from Mitchell, this Scottsbluff area is home to three pawsome parks that welcome leashed dogs. Northwood Park is furrific for pups who love grass! The park has tons of open area dotted with trees, plus it has a playground and restrooms. If you and your pup are looking for a woofderful place to walk on a paved trail, head to the nearby Terry Carpenter Park and Recreation Area. There is a half-mile concrete path that loops around the park with a few shady trees along the way. Follow the trail out the southwest corner of the park past the Babe Ruth Baseball Field and find yourselves in another pawsome green space – Frank Park! There’s more paved walking paths at Frank Park, plus a playground and a picnic area.
Looking for a quiet place to stretch your legs with Fido by your side? Visit the Railway and 17th neighborhood, about ten miles from Mitchell. Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, McCaffree Park is a small, but woofderful area for a stroll with your leashed dog. There’s nothing but lush grass and shady trees on one side of the park, with a small playground and a basketball half-court on the other. The sidewalks of this unobtrusive area make for a nice extended walk, too. Jaycee Park is another nearby quiet community green space you and your pup will have fun visiting. There’s tons of wide open spaces! A few blocks away, Westmoor Park has a large grass runway that is ideal for a jaunt with your pooch.
Is your pooch craving some off-leash fun? Head to the Southwest Scottsbluff neighborhood, about 11 miles from Mitchell. The neighborhood’s Riverside Dog Park is a pawsome place to unclip the leash and let your furry friend frolic with new fur-iends! This furrific dog park has lots of agility equipment where your pooch can test his or her skills, plus trees, fire hydrants and kiddie pools that can be filled with water from the park’s spigot on hot days. There is a separate area for smaller dogs, plus picnic tables where humans can watch their pups. The park has rubbish cans, however, you’ll have to supply your own cleanup baggies.
