South Gering

You and your leashed pup will love exploring the town’s largest park in the South Gering neighborhood! The Oregon Trail Park has 68 acres of furrific fun! With tons of open grass to walk or play on, there’s tons of room to exercise your pup. There’s also lots of shady trees throughout the park where your pup can check out squirrel scents or you two can sit a spell and take in the stunning, rocky views of Scotts Bluff on the horizon. Oregon Trail Park also has fun for the rest of the family that includes a playground, a picnic pavilion, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball courts, athletic fields and restrooms.

North Gering

Looking for a woofderful place to walk your dog? Head to the North Gering neighborhood’s Northfield Arboretum and Park. This 15-acre community open space is a pawsitively pawesome place to stroll with your leashed pooch! You and your furry friend will love all there is to see and sniff along the half-mile paved walking path that runs through this grassy, elongated park. On your jaunt, you’ll see a display of trees and shrubs that are able to grow in the area with extra care, and also an exhibit of vegetation native to this part of western Nebraska. There are picnic tables, too, where you and your pup can enjoy a snack after your walk. Northfield Arboretum and Park also has incredible views of Scotts Bluff!

Southwest Gering

If you and furry friend find yourselves in the Southwest Gering neighborhood, check out the puptastic McLellan Park! This five-acre city park is primarily made up of lush open grassy space, making it a woofderful spot to stroll or play with your leashed pooch! There are big shady mature trees around the park, plus a playground where any two-legged children you might have along with you can enjoy playtime, too! This pawsome park also has a basketball court, baseball and soccer fields. Pack a picnic and have a furrific meal with your pooch by your side at the park’s covered table.

East Gering

Two pawsome parks await you and your furry friend in the East Gering neighborhood! Leash your pooch and visit Johannes Park. This neatly maintained grassy park encompasses about half a city block of space and has trees and vegetation around the edges, providing lots of things to sniff! There’s lots of wide open space for you and Fido to stretch your legs, plus a playground and picnic area. Be sure to check out Gentry Park just a few blocks away. Though a bit smaller, Gentry Park has huge views of Scotts Bluff! There’s tons of grass, a covered picnic table and a playground for kiddos.

West Gering

Leash your pup and get ready for some tail-wagging fun in the West Gering neighborhood! This area is home to Carl Gray Park, a woofderful green space with lots of trees, a playground and grass. It’s also the starting point of the "U" Street Pathway, so you and Fido can get some serious exercise on the four-mile trail that winds through town all the way to the Scotts Bluff National Monument west of Gering. You and your pooch will also enjoy a romp through Roundhouse Park, just a stone’s throw from Carl Gray Park. There, you’ll find trees, a covered picnic area and a playground. The neighborhood’s Hampton Park is another furrific place to visit with your pup, as it’s full of shady trees and grass. There’s also a playground and restrooms.
