Just east of the Scotts Bluff National Monument in the Nebraska panhandle, the town of Gering is a small, but lively community – and one that loves dogs! Gering has three veterinary clinics to care for your pup, and leashed pooches are welcome in the city’s woofderful parks.

The most pawpular spot for pups in Gering is at Monument Dog Park! This five-acre fully fenced-in off-leash play area is a pawsome place for playtime and socializing! A large, open grassy area provides a place for your pooch to romp and roam, or enjoy a game of fetch! There is a separate section for shy or timid dogs where they can play in an introvert-friendly atmosphere.

Right outside of the Monument Dog Park, you and your leashed dog can take a furrific walk on the "U" Street Pathway! This paved trail is about four miles total, but from the dog park, you and Fido will only have to cruise two miles until you reach the Oregon Trail Museum and Visitors Center at the Scotts Bluff National Monument. Leashed dogs are welcome in outdoor areas at this historic and scenic national treasure!

Whether you’re a local or just visiting the area, you and Fido will agree, Gering is pawsitively grrrrreat!
