The town of Chester, southeast of Auburn, is home to the Wason Pond Conservation Area. This area offers 105 acres of recreational opportunities with something for everyone! There are dedicated wetlands for various conservation projects, open shorelines to wander around Wason Pond, various skill-level hiking trails, and there is also a sports field where you and your pup can catch a game. Take your pawtastic friend for a walk and enjoy all nature has to offer. Be sure to plan accordingly as there are no restrooms here, and pack a picnic lunch and plenty of water. Keep Fido on leash to help protect the flora and fauna.

The Onway Lake neighborhood in the town of Raymond is home to the Deerborn Estate Open Space on Onway Lake, also known as the Lillian M. Cassier Memorial Forest. This open space is offered to residents and visitors to enjoy all that nature has to offer, in an untouched setting.  Hiking, relaxing or fishing are the options here. Or head to Cammet Recreation Area which features hiking through forested areas, or relaxing along the trails. Both areas are dog-friendly and your pawtastic friend is always welcome to roam off-leash if he responds well to voice commands. Bring a picnic lunch and plenty of water!

The Woodside Drive Open Space is in the North Londonderry neighborhood in the town of Londonderry, southwest of Auburn. This area is dedicated to enjoying the wide-open, wooded spaces this town has to offer. Dog-friendly, you and your pup can relax, take hikes or let your pup run. Fido can be on an extended leash, or off-leash on voice command. Be sure to take plenty of water while visiting this rural location. The Hubbard neighborhood, in the town of Derry, south of Auburn, is where you will find Ballard State Forest on Ballard Pond. Your pup is welcome on leash to hike with you on their many hiking trails. Or head to Rockingham Recreational Trail which meanders through the center of town. This trail runs throughout the state on old railroad lines. Walk or bike ride with your pup in tow! Hungry yet? Why not head to Sabatino’s North Italian Restaurant, offering steak, pizza, and seafood at twelve pup-friendly outdoor tables, or dine at Amphora Restaurant’s five outdoor puptastic tables! The Deerfield Road Town Forest is the place for you and your fur-iendly companion to explore in the town of Candia, north of Auburn. This 82-acre area has two hiking trails just calling your name. Or head to Moore Park which has sports fields and courts, a playground area and skateboard park. For birdwatching enthusiasts, visit Kinnicum Pond in the Flint Road Town Forest and walk along water’s edge on carefully-placed boarding to see this eco-sensitive area. Heron Rookery, located here, is home to Great Blue Herons. Bring a picnic lunch, water and clean up bags to all.
