Dog Walking in Manchester

Does walking through the woods calm your soul? Does the sound of waves lapping against weathered land give you inner-peace? Does being with your dog make all your stresses go away? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Livingston Park is the place for you. You and your pup can bring peace into a hectic life by walking the trail known as Livingston Park – just remember, Fido must be leashed at all times!

“Let’s go fly a kite! Up to the highest height! Let’s go fly a kite and send it soaring!” If you didn’t sing that, you need to watch Marry Poppins again, but that’s beside the point. Derryfield Park is a dog-friendly park where visitors can walk their dogs, enjoy a picnic lunch, or fly kites with fellow kite-enthusiasts. Dogs must be leashed at all times.

If you’re looking for an off-leash dog park, keep reading! Peanut Park was Manchester’s first dog park, and it’s completely fenced in! Peanut Park is open from sunrise to sunset, but there is a $10-per-year annual membership fee. Most pet parents agree, though, that $10 a year for 10,000 square feet of fenced-in park space is a more-than-fair price.

Livingston Park is a lovely wooded trail that is perfect for an on-leash walk or jog. This park is popular on the weekends and is usually frequented with runners, bikers, and families. There is also a nearby pond for the dogs to splash around in. If Livingston Park is too crowded for you, then head over to Stark Park which also welcomes your on-leash pup. Stark Park has cobblestone roads, and you can learn about some of the history of Stark Park while on your walk. Locals say that most of the dogs that visit Stark Park are off-leash, so beware of dogs running free!

Downtown has some amazing eateries for you and your pup to enjoy together, such as Republic that offers Mediterranean cuisine and has dog-friendly outdoor seating. If Mediterranean isn’t to your liking, then try out the amazing Italian food that Campo Enoteca offers. Enjoy a nice glass of wine with your pup on their outdoor patio. If you’re looking for something a little smaller, try Firefly American Bistro and Bar, an upscale American bistro that has classic American fare. Your pup is welcome to sit on the bistro’s outdoor patio with you while you enjoy a nice dinner.

Manchester Dog Park is the only dog park in Manchester that allows your dog to roam off-leash. This dog park is 10,000 square-feet and is double gated at the entrance so your dog can’t escape. The park is populated with several other dogs looking to socialize, which means your pup will not have to worry about being the only dog in the park. If you’re looking for a great scenic walk with your dog, then visit the Manchester Riverwalk. The Riverwalk offers a 2-mile paved trail along the Merrimack River. This Riverwalk is perfect for a great outing with your dog, and offers a scenic photo opportunity!

On the East Side of Manchester is Derryfield Park, which welcomes your dog to visit so long as he remains on-leash. Derryfield Park offers trails, fields, and a playground for you and your pup to explore while visiting. If you hike to the top of the park, you will get an amazing view of the city. Be cautious of the times you visit Derryfield park since it is known as one of the more challenging cross-country courses in New England, and hosts many cross-country meets. You and your pup could even mosey over to the Weston Observatory on the opposite side of Derryfield and learn about the history of the park.

Kalivas Union is home to Murphy’s Taproom, which is like heaven to your pup. Murphy’s Taproom has a diverse menu of wings, quesadilla, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and even shepherd’s pie. Their outdoor patio is 100% dog-friendly, and when you are seated, they offer a nice bowl of ice water for your dog. But that’s not all! They even have a doggie menu with offerings like hamburger patties and bacon. During the summertime, Murphy’s hosts live music, so beware if your pup has sensitive ears! With so much to offer, your pup won’t want to leave!
