A short 30-minute drive west of Carteret will bring you to the Green Brook Township. Perhaps the greatest highlight of this area is the Washington Rock State Park. This 52-acre park sits atop the first mountain of the Watchung Mountains, a group of three long, low ridges. Washington Rock State Park is famous for its scenic overlook, previously used by General George Washington to monitor British troops during the Revolutionary War.
