Winding Brook
About ten miles west of Colonie, you and Fido can visit Guilderland Dog Park! Because Guilderland is a smaller town, this bark park is less likely to be crowded, which makes it great for dogs that might be on the shy side. Don’t let that fool you, though; there’s still plenty of room for your energetic dog to run around and enjoy some off-leash exercise. Water is provided for your dog, so you won’t need to worry about bringing any from home. You will, however, want to bring along some baggies to clean up any mess your dog makes. No one wants to step in anything left behind!

Upper Washington Avenue
Westland Hills Dog Park is just ten minutes away from Colonie, and it’s sure to be a ball for your dog! This off-leash bark park is on the smaller side, but it does have wading pools, which are absolutely perfect for hot summer days. For dog moms and dads, there’s plenty of seating, so you can relax while your dog plays with their pawesome new friends. There’s a clean-up station, so you don’t have to worry about bringing those materials along. Water is also provided for your dog. Locals warn this park gets very muddy after a heavy rain, so you might want to have a towel nearby.

Central Avenue
Washington Park, located in Albany’s Central Avenue neighborhood, is about ten minutes away from Colonie. The park is great if you’re looking for somewhere new to walk your pup; they’ll need to be on a leash while you explore the main area. However, this park also has a separate field that allows your pup to get some off-leash exercise. Note that this is an "unofficial" dog park; dogs are allowed to run leash-free on the parade grounds. Water is available during warmer months, but the park does shut it off during the winter so that the pipes won’t freeze. Please bring waste bags from home. We can practically hear Fido barking in anticipation!

Ten Broeck Triangle
Just outside of downtown Albany, or about seven miles away from Colonie, you and your dog can enjoy spending time together at Olde English Downtown Dog Park. Locals hail this dog park for its proximity to downtown, which allows your dog the chance to destress if they get nervous around large crowds. You can be sure your dog is secure in this off-leash dog park, as the fences are very tall, meaning there’s no chance of your pup hopping over. As the park is in the middle of the city, it isn’t the largest, so please make sure to clean up after your pooch.
