Normanskill
Around 13 miles away from Wynantskill, in a neighborhood called Normanskill in the western part of Albany, you'll find two doggie parks where your pup will have pawlenty of fun! The first one is Normanskill Farm Dog Park, which is a nice, clean, off-leash park where you can find a creek for those pups that love to cool off and swim around. Beautiful scenery, plenty of space, and walking trails outside of the fenced area are some of the added bonuses of this park. The second dog park is Hartman Road Dog Park, which offers running water, a kiddie pool in the summer, and waste baggies for cleaning up!36

North Albany - Shaker Park
If you have a socialized doggo with good manners and all the necessary vaccinations, you can visit the off-leash Department of General Services Dog Park. Your pooch will pawsitively love exercising in this park, which is located just 7 miles outside of town. The park is very clean, generally not too crowded, and it provides a safe double-gated entrance. Other than having running water for proper hydration, the park also puts out kiddie pools so doggos can dip their paws in the hot weather. There is also a shaded gazebo that provides shade for the doggie parents. All you need to bring is some waste baggies!24

Upper Washington Avenue
A different pawssibility close to Wynantskill is the Westland Hills Dog Park, located around 11 miles away in a neighborhood called Upper Washington Avenue in Albany. This off-leash park isn't the largest in the area, but it does have plenty of shade and wading pools, which makes it perfect for summer days. Water accessibility is another plus. When it's raining, the park can become a bit muddy, so it's a nice idea to bring a towel with you. Doggies that are friendly and up-to-date on all the necessary vaccinations are welcome in this park with their human parents! Don't forget to be a respawnsible dog owner and clean up after your pooch.12

Town Park Road
If you want to visit a park located on the same side of the Hudson River, try the East Greenbush Dog Park. The park is located around 10 miles away from Wynantskill, in East Greenbush. If you decide to visit this park, you should know that the park requires a permit. Officially, permits are only available for town residents, but this rule is not strictly followed. Otherwise, the park is not very big, but it's nicely fenced. There are hiking trails throughout the park, but if you're outside of the fenced area, you have to keep your pooch on-leash. Children under 10, dogs in heat, unlicenced pooches, and puppies under 4 months are prohibited from the park.
