North Pharsalia

The Pharsalia Woods State Forest is a pawsome place to visit with Fido in South Plymouth, and is just four miles out of Norwich. The forest offers a variety of activities including fishing, hunting, skiing, camping, biking, and hiking. While visiting, Fido needs to stay on leash, but he will love all the hiking trails the two of you can explore together. The Pharsalia Woods State Forest has six-miles of the Finger Lakes Trail that you can explore, plus you and your furry friend are also allowed to hike anywhere in the forest unless a sign is posted prohibiting you. Make sure to bring water and clean-up bags when you visit.

Amblerville

The Ambler State Forest in New Berlin,  only five miles out of Norwich, is a great spot to take Fido to for a fun day of exercise and exploring. The forest offers fishing, hunting. hiking, and plenty of wildlife for you and your furry friend to see. The wildlife includes mammals, song birds, raptors, and amphibians. Make sure to keep your pup on leash while visiting so he doesn't try to chase a squirrel while you are hiking. If you and Fido don't want to leave the beautiful Ambler State Forest, you're in luck since they have campsites that allow both tents and RV camping. 

East Mcdonough

Seven miles out of Norwich in Oxford is the Bowman Lake State Park. This pawesome park is a dogtastic place to bring Fido if you both want a fun day out, and offers a boat launch, camping, nature trails, food, pavilions, picnic tables, and more. Your dog needs to remain on leash while visiting, but will love being able to hike throughout the park and get a good sniff session in before having to head home for the day. If you want to make it a weekend trip, then just grab a campsite and enjoy spending time under the stars with your furry friend by your side.

Cookhouse Road

Plymouth is only eight miles out of Norwich and home to the Pigeon Hill State Forest. Fido will love exploring this forest which offers camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking. Make sure Fido stays on leash while visiting, and when you hike, be vigilant of the hunters so no one gets hurt. While hiking, there are numerous creeks that your furry friend can jump in, so make sure to bring a towel to dry off after your adventure. The forest is filled with wildlife, like deer, turkeys, grouse, coyotes, and birds, so keep an eye on your pup.

Elm Grove

Sixteen miles out of Norwich in Morris is The Getaway at Glen Highland Farm, a pawsome place to vacation with your furry pal by your side. Here, you will find lots of different camping experiences, from using your own RV to cottages, cabins, and tents. The beautiful 175-acres are filled with meadows, streams, trails, and a pond to go fishing. Your pup is allowed to wander around off-leash with you and truly feel at home. If Fido loves swimming, the Butternut Creek runs along The Getaway and is open for swimming and splashing around.
