The small community of Mount Bethel is nestled in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, near the Delaware River. This area provides easy access to the Pocono Mountains and a number of parks, state forest areas, trails, and campgrounds where you and Fido can get out to explore nature.
When you want to get out into the woods with your four-footed friend, head to Bears Swamp Park. Wander the trails in this pawtastic 180 acre wilderness. You and your pooch will have a day filled with adventure hiking through the forest and wetlands in this reserve.
Another pupcredible natural area to visit with your furry friend is the Minsi Lake Wilderness Area. Bring Fido and walk the trails in the 300-acre facility. If you have a canoe, you can launch out into the 120-acre lake located in the reserve and enjoy some one-on-one time on the water with your pup.
If you want to escape to nature for a weekend or more, you’ll find pet-friendly campsites at Hickory Lake Campground, just three miles northwest of Mount Bethel. This site features a lake that’s stocked with trout. Dogs weighing up to 40 pounds are allowed in the campsites provided you keep them on a leash and pick up their waste.
