Looking for a fun educational event that’s pup-friendly? Only two miles east of the downtown Savannah, Old Fort Jackson is the oldest standing brick fortification in Georgia. They offer daily programs, including their cannon firings. The National Historic Landmark was used in the War of 1812 and the Civil War. Not only do you get to learn about this famous area, but you’ll also have the opportunity to view the gorgeous the Savannah River while you’re there. Tickets are less than $10. It is open Monday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note they are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.

Cinco Mexican Grill offers classic Mexican cuisine and dog-friendly outdoor tables. Does it get better than that? See for yourself. Choose a delicious dish from their large flavorful menu. Get their shrimp and pineapple fajitas or try the chicken and beef sopes. They also offer several alcoholic and sweet drinks. Some say their house margaritas are the best ever, especially their coconut margarita. You can expect speedy, friendly service. Cinco Mexican Grill is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Okatie Ale House will not only fill your belly, but will also make your ear happy too! Live music can be caught several nights of the week at the restaurant. The restaurant is open Monday through Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.

Snag one of the six dog-friendly tables at Mi Tierrita Okatie and dine on some authentic Mexican and American food. Their menu is expansive; they offer a full menu of Mexican food and also several American dishes, including pizza. Enjoy a piping hot fajita or cool fresh salad. Because the restaurant is a family business, it is very family-oriented. But don’t be afraid to just sit back with your pooch next to you and sit a cold beer or tasty margarita! Just be nice and sneak your pup a nacho. Mi Tierrita Okatie is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
