New Bristow Village
In the heart of Bristow is the pup-friendly Bristoe Station Battelfield Heritage Park. There are numerous trails to take a walk here, ranging from a short half mile to a longer two mile jaunt. As you explore, check out the Civil War history information dotted around the place, and the displays that have been carefully preserved and maintained. There is plenty of wildlife to keep your eye out for, hiding in the fields, ponds and woodland area. Remember to clean up after your dog and keep him on the lead at all times. You will need to bring water for you both here.36

If you and pup share a love of all things botanical, head to Merrifield Garden Centre Dog Park to the north of Bristow in Manassas. This fenced area at the entrance to the Garden Centre is the perfect place for Fido to have a run off-lead, chase some tennis balls and meet new friends. There is water and some clean up bags provided, but it is a good idea to take some of your own. There is shade available and pup-sized pools in the summer. Once he has worn himself out a little, you can both take a wander through the garden centre itself and check out the amazing array of plants and garden products on offer.24

Dumfries Rd/Massie St
Over in neighbouring Manassas is a great little pet-friendly park, namely the Baldwin Park. There is a path through the gardens that your pup will love to wander with you, as well as picnic areas, benches and a bathroom. Keep you pooch on the lead here, and don’t forget your clean up bags. After your trip to the park, head to Grounds Central Station for a hot cuppa, all-day breakfast or a light lunch. For something a little heartier, try Philadelphia Tavern, Fosters Grille or Old Towne Sports Pub. All of these places welcome dogs at one of the outside tables.12

Catharpin /Groveton
The Manassas National Battelfield Park covers 5,000 acres and is a beautiful dog-friendly outing. This place has major historical significance, being the site of two major American Civil War battles. As you and your pup explore the numerous trails, take time to stop and read the information plaques and check out the displays along the way. There are guided tours available, or you can choose one of the self-guided options. You will need to bring your own supplies up here; clean up bags, water and a drinking bowl for pup, as well as comfortable walking attire and sunscreen in the warmer months.
