Only about six miles from Alexander Beach lies the Tommy Thompson Trail. This is part of the Rails-to-Trails initiative and boosts all the authentic beauties of the area. They take the old rail beds and repurpose them into paved walking trails that frame the beautiful countryside. It is the most pawtastic way to bring history into the modern world. You and your dog can enjoy the beauty of nature in a safe and relaxing way here. Please bring Fido’s leash, because these trails wind in and out of the cities along the way. You can walk the whole trail or just the part you want.

Commercial Area

While you are out enjoying the beauty that comes with the area, you are going to want to take your dog to lunch. So you should definitely stop in and visit Gere a Deli. The outdoor tables are pawfect for people-watching and enjoying the beautiful weather. The food is classic deli fare with sandwiches and baked goods. You will love spending time with your dog, who will love that this restaurant is just under six miles from Alexander Beach. The service is fast and friendly. Just be aware that this a local hotspot, so it stays busy all the time.

Rotary Park

Six miles is not too far to go to find just the right place for you to run and play with your fur friends. Ace of Hearts Dog Park is the pawfect place to go for a full amenity dog park that has everything you and your family could want. There are two separate fenced in areas so that your pup can find friends just his size. The water fountains make sure that you stay well-hydrated. Fido can even take a swim in the kiddie pools if he gets too hot or just feels like splashing. There are plenty of seating areas where you can relax while watching your best pal play.

Coupeville

It is a 26-mile drive from Alexander Beach, but the food at Ciao’s is well worth the drive. Who wouldn’t want fresh pizza just out of the brick oven? The cheese is melty and the crust is just pawfect. So grab your dog and get an outdoor table to dine at while you enjoy the view of the ocean. They are breed restrictive, so please call ahead before you visit. You do have to keep your dog on a leash while they eat. Come get handmade pizza that will have keep Fido (and probably you, too!) begging for more. The food is fantastic, but the service is something even more special.

Bellingham

If you are ready for an hour or so in the car, then you should head over to Maritime Heritage Park. Before you and your dog head over, you should check out the events on the city’s official website because there is always something going on in the amphitheater. The fishery and native plant trail will teach you all there is to know about the plants and animals that are native to the area. It is a beautiful place to walk and even has a Salmon Art Trail that has plenty of beautiful art for you and Fido to contemplate.
