A.I. Artificial Intelligence Inspired Dog names

In the Steven Spielberg-directed film A.I. Artificial Intelligence, the main protagonist is a childlike Mecha (an advanced form of robot) known as David. In the film, he is initially owned by a couple, Henry and Monica Swinton. They have a sick son named Martin who was to succumb to his disease soon, which is why they got David as a “replacement”. However, when Martin makes an unexpected recovery, David’s presence causes a rift in the family. Eventually, he is abandoned by Monica with his robotic toy, Teddy. He then sets out to discover his origin story and how he came to be.

“David” is a common character name, not just for humans but also for their animal counterparts, especially among canines. A famous dog named “David” is the fictional dog from the British soap opera Coronation Street. The series was created by Tony Warren in 1960 and became the most-watched program on British TV after only six months. One of Britain’s longest running shows, the program focuses on events that take place on Coronation Street in Weatherfield, a fictional town located in Salford. According to the fictitious history of the show, the street was constructed in 1902 and named to commemorate King Edward VII’s coronation.

Coronation Street is celebrated for its representation of a humble, working-class community as well as its jovial humor and strong characters. One of the show’s central characters is David Platt, also known as Tilsley. He made his on-screen debut during the episode aired on December 25, 1990, in which he was portrayed by actor Thomas Ormson. On March 15, 2000, Ormson left the show and was replaced by Jack P. Shepherd, who took over the role on April 26, 2000. For his performance as David Platt, Shepherd has received general praise from critics and a number of accolades, including Best Actor awards at the 2018 The British Soap Awards.

In the show, David Platt also owns a Yorkshire Terrier named David. Originally, David is the pet dog of an old lady named Mrs. Moss. She was a regular customer at Audrey’s salon, where Platt worked as a hairdresser. When Mrs. Moss passed away in the show, it was revealed in her will that she left her dog in the care of Platt, along with £20,000 in cash. Since then, David the dog has been living at the Platts residence, situated in 8 Coronation Street. In one episode, David had a story arc where he was confiscated by the Platts’ neighbor Yasmeen Nazir, who was suffering from the dog’s constant antics. However, she eventually returned David to his family.
